I dinned in for the first time. Planned a surprise birthday for my husband which ended up not being a surprise as on Friday 11/16- I called and asked if we could reserve for 20 people, and was told no, so I said okay understandable but considering I’m trying to make this a special occasion I asked for a manager, who was very rude on the phone. She repeated what the first girl said and I asked if we could make an exception or take a note- basically asking if she could work with me. She said no, everybody had to be there all at once to be seated but if we got there by 5:15pm it wouldn’t be a problem sitting us since it would be before rush hour. Mind you, I had already set the place, date, and whole event with family and Friends for today, Sunday 11/19, a month prior. Assuming this restaurant would be welcoming and inviting but I received the complete opposite. Today, I called and asked if I could pre order, they said no, again, asked about sitting arrangements and was told half of the party needed to be there to be seated so we go, get there by 5:15pm, wi some of our family already there. The host then tells us that the whole party has to be there, in which I respond, I cannot make everyone be here all at once before we seat, some may arrive a little later but we’re sure of the number. The 3 girls at the front, o were extreme rude, condensing and could care less about getting us taken care of. We were told there wasn’t enough tables and people had to leave so it would be 15min or so to try putting tables together. There wasn’t many people there and their back room was pretty empty. I go up and ask how much longer, with our whole party there and many customers coming in, starting to fill up the restaurant, and we’re told, another 10 minutes as they were trying to figure tables out. I go up 15 min later and ask how much longer because we keep being told different things, we have kids and family who are waiting and are hungry and there’s been many customers walking in getting seated- which would be taking up more tables right. She then says she doesn’t know how much longer, so that’s when I asked for a manager. She runs off and a guy comes up in a gray shirt, who had observed much of the interactions from behind the bar. He asks what’s going on and says the same thing, not an I’m sorry, just plain rude- says they don’t know how much longer especially now during dinner time. I explain to him my interaction Friday with the manager and host and today and he proceeds to talk over me and tells me big parties are not guaranteed seating right away…really! We’ve been waiting and keep getting told 10min, 15, 10min… and then we don’t know. How do you not know, there was many open tables and now your rush hour is here and we have hungry people and kids. Then as he goes a to the back room he comes back 10 min later saying he made some bargaining with the servers and staff and is buying them drinks to seat us. The waitress was great, fast, nice and easy to work with. As we were leaving, there were a group of girls, hosts and servers, ours was sitting there, and another girl grabs the tip we left on our table and drops it off to her. Then a girl asks her if we paid, and our waitress says, yes, then the girl responds with a “they better”!
I have never been so humiliated at any restaurant. Oscars made me and my whole entire family and friends feel unwelcome and like our business meant absolutely nothing. Seeing this was a local business I decided to support and go there, but after this interaction, never will I or the 20 people that went there will ever return. Many other businesses would love our business so we’ll just keep moving and sharing our awful experiences with everyone. No one should ever feel this way especially when, 1) they are trying to support a local business and 2) they have a special event planned.
Lesson learned, do more research and trust your gut when you get “shitty” phone service. It didn’t get any better and all the teen age girls they have working there are rude and...
Read moreBefore I begin, let me say the food was pretty decent. My boyfriend LOVED his turkey bacon melt. I enjoyed my wings. My friends liked their meals as well. The food was good, so if you are seeking to carry-out, I happily recommend! It was our first time ever coming here and I was not let down with the food.
That being said, our service was less than good. I used to be a waitress myself at Old Chicago, so I am generally lenient with severs and I feel happy tipping very well. I understand servers have rough times and I like helping them out when I can. However, our waitress, Heather, was honestly a bit problematic. This will be a rant, apologies.
When we first sat down, she got our drinks rather quickly. We took our friends appetizer and got it out to him promptly. The start of the service was going well.
About when we started ordering our entrees is when things started to go downhill. We all had our appetizers and all of them were finished. We were chatting and having a nice time, but our waitress was almost seemingly ignoring us. I would stare at her and try to smile to get her attention, but each time i went unnoticed. The only reason we got her to stop and take our entree orders was when she refilled our drinks.
Next incident was when one of our friends was confused with the gluten free pizza choices, as the pizza itself was a smaller size (individual) but he would get charged for a medium. He was bewildered at the price. That's a $7 difference in price. While I understand our waitress cannot change prices, her initial comment to his questioning was "Well do you buy gluten free things at the store?" and went on to say they are expensive as well. She said this to a man with Celiac disease, which I found horribly ironic. Her comment was unwarranted and a little unprofessional. I was a little upset with it, but decided she may be having a rough night.
Next incident was when I received my food. I ordered 10 char buffed naked wings with a side off mozz sticks. When i ordered I distinctly remember saying "Italian" cheese sticks (mozz sticks). I received the cheesy bread sticks. My boyfriend stopped her and told her that I meant to order the mozzarella sticks, not the cheese bread sticks. At this point in time, a server would apologize and offer a new one right away. She did this, but not before saying "Oh, well she pointed to those ones." I would NEVER say that to a customer. Even if you feel like the customer ordered wrong on their behalf, you should NEVER say that to them. Very unprofessional. If she needed to clarify the order with me, I would have been happy to do so.
There were a few issues as well, such as her smacking her chewing gum while talking to us and serving us. It's just not professional, in my opinion.
I am sure Heather is not an inherently spiteful person, and I do not think the restaurant is bad quality, but this was just a painfully negative experience. It was our first time ever eating there and it was on my boyfriends 21st birthday. I feel ashamed to have taken him to it and to have received such service.
I will probably never come sit down and eat again, but carry-out is still in my favor because the wings were...

Back in omaha for a long wknd we had to make our first dinner with our 5 of our kids and 7 grandkids Oscar's. It did not take long and they had us set up in a great table for all of us. It took longer for us to order than it did for them to start bringing out food... 4 or 5 pizzas chicken strips mini corn dogs french fries and all our drinks. They did a fantastic job and it was under 300 bones !!!!!! Food was amazing as always and our waitress was awesome and always close for more drinks. Didn't care for the woman behind the bar, she was talking to a friend obviously and didn't mind making me wait for her to finish her conversation and then told me that she would give my card and tab to our waitress so the tab could keep running, at the end I told my waitress this, she went to the bar and came back and the bartender told her I had to come up and close the tab at the bar, I guess so she could make sure she got her tip for her terrible service. However she is just one part of a larger operation so I won't hold that against everyone.... overall great thank you and we will be back next...
