its ok…. They will for sure maintain 5 stars if they improves things like this below.
What I ordered: Pho with all cut
in my experience, to have a decent bowl of pho is never going to happened, especially in America. or maybe I haven’t try other state yet. this is a very new restaurant and I really want to support my people but I have to think about it.
the amound of meat is just above what would be called “too little”. I dont like that the beef meat ball is super tiny . There is a lot of pho noodle tho. I guess it’s a trick to make you feel like you eat a lot but in fact it’s just all noodle. I understand there is a whole inflation going on. at 14 dollars a bowl, I guess cutting the meat back is understandable. however, I don’t like that the amount of veggies is so low. im sorry but I also shop grocery at Asian market pretty often and they could have been more generous with the veggies and herbs and it won’t hurt their bank.
Taste wise , it’s just “ok”. The broth felt like it did not brew over night or perhaps only a few hours. so there fore the flavor is not at peak yet.
Customer service is very friendly and dedicated. maybe too dedicated. I guess it’s because our culture care about what foreigners (im talking about white folks) think about us. But anyway, they are nice and friendly.
I do hope they getting a little more generous with their food and expanding their menu soon. I would come back again to try other items, but this spot probably wouldn’t be a place...
Read moreYou know those restaurants where you can clearly tell they're trying to cut costs and nickel and dime you?
That's our experience with Pho 79.
Some friends of ours told us this was the best pho in Omaha so we were super excited to try it. I'll have to say, we almost certainly will skip them in the future.
The good: Vietnamese coffee. It's probably the best we've had in this city. Just one sip will widen your eyes and give you the kick in the pants you want.
The mixed reaction: The pho. We ordered both the combination and the medium rare beef. Flavor wise, the broth was decent but nothing special. The meat was overall good. However the portion sizes were obviously way too small, I'm not the biggest eater but I probably could have had two bowls to be filling. It's clear that they've portioned already expensive pho so that you order extra noodles. They barely gave any of the herbs/veggies that come with pho as well.
The ugly: chicken wings and vegetable spring rolls. The chicken wings stunk - I mean that literally. It was rank and my wife pushed it as far away from her as she could. Let's be clear - we aren't strangers to food with strong odors (half our fridge is kimchi), but this was on another level. Seems like they put way too much fish sauce on the wings without really much anything else to flavor. The vegetable spring rolls should not be called that. We literally got a single leaf of lettuce, a tiny piece of fried tofu (that tasted off), and a huge pile of noodles....
Read moreMy husband and I went and had the Pho. It is always amazing. So far, this has been the best place that I have found for Pho near me. This was our first time dining in (I usually order take out), and it may very well be the last. The atmosphere is very much a hole in the wall place that is not known to many, which adds to the charm, but the hostess/ server/ cashier (all the same person) was a bit odd. It may be her first job or something of that nature, but she made my husband and I feel awkward. She would holler from across the restaurant to ask if everybody was doing okay. And by everybody, I mean the 2 tables that were occupied, or she would walk up as I had a mouthful and would ask if everything was okay and waited until I finished that bite and answered her myself even though my husband answered for us and I said mmhmm. I had a full glass of water, minus a drink or 2, and she came over and asked if I needed more water. Things like that.
So even though the food was amazing, we couldn't get out of there...
