R.U.B. Rotisserie Urban Bistro — Restaurant in Omaha

Today my wife and I tried R.U.B for the first time and we will definitely be back! We both had chicken platters which came with two generous pieces of chicken that you, as the customer, get to select accompanied by three sides. I tried the black beans, rice, and cucumber salad and all were good! Next time I may skip the rice and try another side because I definitely don’t want to pass on the beans and cucumber salad…they were both so delicious! The chicken was PHENOMENAL, so juicy, tender and flavorful! The skin is where it’s at as it acts as the vessel for all of the delicious herbs and spices. We also purchased all of the sauces to try aside from the BBQ, only because that’s not our jam, and they were really solid! I really enjoyed the medium and macha salsa! The habanero was spicy (as it should be) and paired well with a bite of chicken, rice, and beans, it also tasted good as a drizzle on top of the cucumber salad! The restaurant was clean and inviting, all of the food looked well made and fresh, and the staff was very helpful and friendly! What really made our experience over the top was having the owner & manager Carlos come over and chat with us about our food and visit to the restaurant. He was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable on his products. Yes, it’s more of a fast casual concept than his other venues but it makes for a great place to grab something a bit lighter and healthier either on the go or for a quick sit down meal. The price was appropriate for the quantity and quality of food you receive. We hope R.U.B continues to pick up business and support from the Omaha community as it is a one-of-a kind concept! Honestly, I have eaten here various times and have struggled to even put into words WHY you NEED to try this place!

So here we go: The sauces. The habanero sauce , the chimmichurri, the creamy white one (which name escapes me..) perfection. So much so that I take some home just to dip chips into (actually though) The owners/creator Carlos Mendez is thoughtful about every ingredient and aspect of the meal. He is hands on in his businesses and is insightful on flavor and texture in every regard. It is incredible to eat food prepared and intentionally molded by an owner who truly cares. The variety! You can build your bowls any way that you want. When you have peak tier ingredients, any way you decide to eat them is a mouthwatering dance. Don’t get too stuck on one thing! Try the potatoes , the carrots, the rice, the slaws, all the sauces, and then come back for more to try them in a slightly new coordination to tease your tastebuds. As much as the United States is heavily impacted by Latin cultures, sometimes we lack in authentic flavors and representation. Supporting this business brings success to authenticity and invites more creators to share their culinary nuances in the heart of Omaha ! It was my first time. I wanted to try it after reading all the positive reviews but was very disappointed. The food was tasty but the amount and the type of food l received was not fair. I ordered a rice bowl which was normally 11.99. The server lady suggested a platter for 14.99 to try different foods. I thought the rice bowl would be enough, so went with that. My dish would come with one protein and two sides. I chose beef as my protein but was charged extra for that (although it said ‘protein’ on the menu and didn’t specify that l had to take chicken). The meat l received was so tiny that l couldn’t help but comment that it was very little. Their response was that it was small because of the price. But in the end, l paid 14.50 (with the additional cost of the beef) and basically had only rice and beans in my bowl. The food wasn’t bad but l felt cheated. Not returning back for sure. I can get a big steak and very good and filling sides at Texas Roadhouse for 16 only. They have a full chicken deal for 4 people for 50 dollars. I can get a very good chicken at...
