The Drover’s whiskey steak is delicious and lives up to the hype! Side note: The whiskey flavor is more subtle then the price. So bring your appetite! 😀 ##drover##omahaplaces##omaharestaurants##omahanebraska##NextLevelDish##omahafoodlovers##omahafoodie##steakhouse

An intimate dining experience amongst the multiple spaces provide a relatively private atmosphere while still being in a crowded room. The service was outstanding. Never a dry glass or the need to look for help. The food was served course after course, flawlessly. Everything was hot and cooked to order. The staff was friendly and attentive. The loaf of wheat bread was warm and fresh with whipped and creamy butter. We tried the smoked bacon wrapped shrimp and mushroom appetizer, both the ham and bean soup and a decent salad bar, very good. The 18 ounce Trail Boss, Ribeye was whiskey marinated and cooked to a perfect, hint over rare. The 14 ounce Whiskey Ribeye was a perfect medium rare. Served with asparagus , cooked just right. The loaded baked potatoes were satisfying without being over the top loaded. A nice balance. We didn't have room for any of the succulent desserts. We planned ahead and made reservations for an early evening dinner on a Thursday night. The place seemed packed, the whole time. Clean and inviting ambiance. Simple elegance with the right portions of everything. We took home leftovers to enjoy later. Whether for a date night, a solo or somewhere to bring the office or friends, this classic restaurant/ steakhouse hit the mark. Good value for the price. I would recommend this business, and will eat here again, when in the area. The lunch and dinner hours were convenient. Parking was a little crowded but, on street parking, on a little used street, was close and worked well. Nicely kept for a well established venue. I don't drink however, a nice selection of wine and cocktails. Not sure if there was another dining room in the basement. There was a bar to wait at while waiting for a table. They don't skimp on quality or service. Very well satisfied, with everything! I know this place has been around for years and doesn't need advertisement to stay busy, all the time. This is how you run a successful restaurant/business. Kudos to the owner, management, staff, the chef, cooks, bartenders, servers and everyone who make this work as a well oiled machine.

I had to think long and hard before this review because I wanted to keep loving them. I rarely post reviews based on one experience unless 1. I’m blown out of this world 2. I’m in another state/country 3. I tried enough entrees on that initial visit that I can genuinely give a very detailed review of the establishments offerings or 4. I’m highly disappointed and would never return. This was my second visit to The Drover and I was thinking I would have the same experience as my first visit two years ago. That visit was awesome. Highly satisfied and looked forward to a return visit. This experience was slightly different. Our service was good but terribly slow and we waited over an hour for our food from the time we ordered. Bread took close to 35 mins to reach our table and drinks took about twenty minutes. The salad bar is terribly underwhelming-it’s small and consists of iceberg lettuce, a few toppings, and some dressings-nothing special at all. Ambiance is killer. We sat right in front of the fireplace and I loved it. The interior is dimly lit, well preserved, spacious, and just very inviting. I ordered the same whiskey filet as I did two years ago, and although they cooked it just as I requested (medium), I couldn’t tell there was a hint of whiskey marinade and the searing technique they performed on my steak seemed overdone and crusty. I’m not a fan of steaks with a crusty surface texture that most people find appealing-I find it quite unpleasant. I feel the searing was overdone and because, wasn’t nearly as juicy as many filets I’ve had. The quality of the beef seemed to be of higher grade though and I think if I request a lesser sear next time, I might enjoy it thoroughly. The baked potato was full of deliciousness and I ate the entire thing...however I would hope most restaurants can cook a baked potato 🤔 Although my visit to The Drover wasn’t up to par like my first visit and I feel the $200 tab was a bit overpriced for what I experienced, I still won’t hesitate to come back and try a steak again. But it WON’T be on a Friday or Saturday night!

There's a lot to like about the drover. The menu is not overwhelming. They know what they do well enough and that's what they'll give you. The steak is solid. The prime rib was very good when you did it with the whisky marinade though i still like having a mustard or horseradish with it. It didn't come with, it was not offered, but I didn't think to ask either. We felt the steak's marinade sauce may over power the steak flavor for some. In my culture we marinade all the time though so I was fine with it. The service from our server was very friendly with only minor difficulties in getting the bill. The only down side is the items might be a bit pricey. I felt my prime rib was an ok price, but I was surprised that the rib steak was that much more. You can find other places with a better salad bar... But if you are craving a salad, this will do in a pinch. I did like the plates they were served on, they are metallic and hold the cold very well. The restaurant is very dark on the inside. Taking pictures was a bit more difficult. Good for a romantic atmosphere. They use real candles instead of tea light. The baked potato was fantastic. I wouldn't recommend the broccoli unless you need a vegetable as it's pretty plain and the portion size isn't that much. You are better off with the salad bar if you want greens. This was between a 4 and a 5 for me. If I return often I would give it a 5, but I feel I like it and not love it... For now. Hence the 4

This place is awesome! The interior looks like an old boat or mine, but it's cozy and old school. Big wooden doors welcome you and a snuggle of lights that put you in the mood for something meaty and delicious. The Drover is not a suit and tie place, or it could be, but don't expect a waiter with a tux. Instead, know you'll be treated to great no-frills service with superior menu knowledge and pep in the step refill of drinks, delivery of picture perfect food and a homeboy or homegirl warmness like you're a regular. I enjoyed the 38oz Bone In Ribeye. It was literally one of the top 5 most delicious steaks I've ever eaten...and I eat steak enough the my cardiologist is on speed dial. A trip to the world famous salad bar was included in the meal. An ice cold heavy metal plate gives you the opportunity to stack a remarkable amount of greens, veggies, real bacon bits and a slathering of dressing for a warm up to the big event. Hot bread with butter comes to the table to compliment the salad. If you're thirsty, your drink won't go empty as the servers tag team better than the Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan in the original WWE. The main entree is a testimate to the original Drovers who drove cattle, butchered them and served giant slabs of meat to the ranch hands. In short, huge portions, cooked perfectly and baptized in a marinate exclusive to the Drover. Show up, experience the legend, let them know I sent you!
