We were looking for a place to eat before the INK show at The Admiral 🤘🤘🤘. I googled everything within walking distance and decided on Tixteco. Super happy I did!
Chips and choice of Salsas to start. My husband ordered Coffee and it came in a cool clay mug. He decided on 2 Traditional Tacos, the Carne Asada and Chivo (Goat). He gets excited when he finds things like that on the menu. He wasn't overly hungry but they disappeared quickly!
I also went with 2 Tacos both with Tilapia as my protein. One Traditional with Onions and Cilantro, One Americano with Lettuce, Cheese, Tomato, Guac, and Sour Cream. I liked both! The highlight for me was the Quesadilla Masa, it was made with a fresh soft corn tortilla and stuffed with gooey cheese. You can choose any Meat or Mushrooms or Poblanos like I got. I am Not Lying when I say I could eat that Every Day!!!
The place is small but welcoming. Staff was very friendly and kind. Food took a little bit but was worth the wait. We were running late so we didn't get a chance to try a yummy Marg which looked delicious!...
Read moreHands down this is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in Omaha for tacos. Their asada and shredded beef are amazing. Reasonably priced also. Their asada breakfast is good as well as their burritos and fajitas. I wish their restaurant itself was larger as it has like maybe 5 or 6 seats along a wall and is very cramped. We ate at the restaurant once, but we usually order them for delivery. They do have American style tacos and burritos to please those who want cheese and sour cream etc. We prefer the authentic style however, and that is what I recommend. I'd get the taco dinner with asada. You will not be disappointed. If you don't love very spicy things be careful with their salsas. The green is very hot and the red is not far behind. If you get their nachos, order the jalapenos on the side because sometimes they will make you cry...and I can handle quite a bit of spice...they aren't always blow your head off hot, but once in a while...they are. Enjoy!! This...
Read moreAmbience and decor? Minimal. Quality and authenticity of the fare? Exceptional. Discovered this gem accidentally, but I've been back three times in the last two months.
This is the quintessential "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant. I have yet to order something I didn't like. #1? The green Pozole with pork. #2 The Chicken Molé dish. #3 the "Lent" version of the fish taco.
I have had perhaps 10 different entrees from this restaurant, and every one of them was delicious. Sure, there's random decorations and the flooring isn't exactly even. But every single dish that comes out of the kitchen is hot, delicious, and authentic Mexican food. I was even given a slice of "Tres Leches" birthday cake for free, because it was the owner's birthday.
If you want familiar dishes, go to a chain restaurant. If you want authentic food that will blow your taste buds, come here. The margaritas are made strong, and the staff is family. Definitely a South...
