We were searching for a great Mexican restaurant last week and the excellent reviews for Como en Casa intrigued us, so we gave it a try. The reviews have it right: the food here just stands out. I had the Street Tacos Asada and it was absolutely fantastic - so delicious!

We were a little surprised to visit a mexican restaurant that doesn’t serve premeal chips and salsa, but when our ordered dishes arrived the deliciousness of our meals made us quickly forget all about that.

The service was adequate - not great - but we loved the sweet demeanor of our server; a very nice guy. No negative to report on service.

My only complaint is the restaurant decor was visually lacking. It is a boring barrage of beige - both inside and outside the restaurant. It’s plain bordering on creepy. On the plus side, though, acoustically the restaurant was quiet and relaxing. And the choice of background music could not be better. Loved it!

All in all Como en Casa has instantly risen to the top of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the Opelika/Auburn, LaGrange, and Columbus areas, and we’ll be...

Absolutely Amazing Experience!

This was our first time visiting this Mexican restaurant in Auburn, and it definitely won’t be our last! We started with the chicharrón with guacamole, and let me tell you—it was on point! The chicharrón is fried to order, and it came out perfectly crunchy and flavorful.

We ordered the dragon fruit margarita, and it was amazing—refreshing, vibrant, and the perfect balance of sweet and tart.

I had the carne asada fajitas, and the flavor was absolutely outstanding—juicy, well-seasoned, and served sizzling hot. My husband went with a variety of street tacos and raved about every single one. Each taco was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection.

For dessert, we tried the house-made coffee flan, and WOW—by far the best flan I’ve had in a really long time. Creamy, smooth, and the subtle coffee flavor took it to another level.

Our waitress Evelyn was amazing! The service was top-notch from start to finish, and we happened to arrive at the perfect time—no wait to be seated! Such a hidden gem in Auburn. Can’t wait...

Wow! Just do yourself a favor and stop here for breakfast or lunch. I will admit, I'm a Mexican food junkie. Como en Casa not only met but totally exceeded my expectations. This is quality yums that takes you to the next level.

I went with huevos con mole. OUTSTANDING! I'll admit I went a bit different by ordering the eggs scrambled. The eggs were not overcooked and rubbery which is something I tend to test at breakfast joints. The mole sauce was spectacular. I haven't had mole that good in over 15 years. The perfect blend of sweet, heat, and cocoa...again, spectacular. The presentation was absolutely wonderful.

Wife and daughter ordered chilaquiles burrito and chilaquiles mole. Again, gorgeous presentation and fantastic flavors.

We will definitely be making this a regular stop when we are in the...

I was skeptical at first but the food was excellent. The food could be a little spicier but that’s my preference. Try the chilaquiles Torta but if you like spicy ask for it a little spicier. Sopes were also good and prices are good for portions given. Came a second time on 4/8/25 still amazing. Tried the green chilaquiles Torta which is way spicier than the red. If you don’t like spicy do not get the green. Tried the Mexican coffee and it’s so good it doesn’t need any cream or sugar. Service again was perfect. Wife tried huevos rancheros and they were super good.

Went for breakfast today and was SO IMPRESSED. The food is AUTHENTIC, presentation is PERFECT, and the flavor is TOP TIER. My boyfriend and I were greeted so pleasantly by the staff, got great recommendations, and felt so welcome and cared for. The staff worked well together, and the place was perfectly clean with relaxing Mexican music playing. This is exactly what a restaurant should be, and I pray they get the good business that they deserve from Auburn/Opelika.
