My family has been coming to Orange Beach for many years. I was very excited to try BuzzCatz this morning only to be extremely disappointed by the customer service we received. My husband and I walked up to the shop, where an employee was coming out of the door. She stood in the doorway, not even acknowledging us or stepping to the side to allow us through. After standing there for more than a few seconds talking to another crew member inside, my husband politely said “excuse us” She still did not acknowledge us or bother to move out of the way to let us through. When she finally walked by, (still no greeting or acknowledgement) we got into line for a coffee. We were the second ones in line, the lady before us had already ordered and was waiting for her coffee. The barista did not greet or acknowledge us for almost 10 mins. A line formed behind us, and the couple directly behind us were what I assumed to be locals. The barista was speaking to this couple, who got in and out of line multiple times. I’m assuming they knew each other by the conversation that took place. When the barista was finally finished with the order in front of us, she then turned to the couple behind us and said “two Carmel Cubans?” And began making their order before taking ours. She looked at me and said “I’ll be with you shortly” I was so frustrated by the lack of acknowledgment, customer service, and respect that we decided to leave. My husband was also very disturbed that the barista was continuously coughing into her hand while making the coffees, not washing her hands between any of the drinks that were made. I had really high hopes for this experience and left disappointed, frustrated, and...
Read moreAs an extremely avid cat lover, I KNEW I had to come by and poke my head in this little cat-themed cafe.
Note: this is NOT a cat cafe; instead, it is a coffeeshop and breakfast/brunch spot with a cat theme -- art, apparel, etc.
There's plenty of parking out front. It's connected to a couple other businesses but I had no trouble getting in on a Saturday afternoon.
They were taking donations of clothes and other supplies for those affected by Hurricane Helene when I stopped in, so that's nice.
The one employee I saw came out promptly and waited patiently for me to make up my mind over what I wanted to order and, more difficult, what merchandise I wanted to take home with me!
I eventually wound up with a snickerdoodle cookie to snack on, an ube lemonade to drink, and a very funny cat-themed sticker and pin as souvenirs. My snack and beverage came out quickly.
I really enjoyed poking around the restaurant and seeing all the art and merchandise. Super fun and funky vibe. A must-see if you enjoy feline-inspired art and clothing and gifts. My ube lemonade was very unique and very strongly ube forward; I don't know that I liked it enough that I'd order it again, but I'm glad I tried it and I enjoyed the unique creation. The snickerdoodle was a textbook but delicious snickerdoodle, with crispy edges and soft and chewy center.
I wish I had time on this vacation to try an actual larger meal offering here, but I'd certainly love to come back in the future to experience...
Read moreCute little shop that's been there about 5 months. We stopped in to see what they had and because my toddler had a coupon for free ice cream. The store is really nice inside, I love the decor and colors. It has a cat motif going on with paintings and the name of course. The workers were very courteous and offered their assistance. They menu was pretty good. Offered treats such as: cookies, cheesecake slices, cupcakes, biscuits, ice cream, lattes, tea, coffee, salads, small sandwiches, etc. I was too stuffed to enjoy much, but I did get a 1/2 white and chocolate cookie. The little one got ice cream, my MIL got pumpkin slice cake, and the hubby got chamomile tea. I didn't like my cookie too much, it seems like 2 cookies they just layer together and cooked, it was too mushy on one side but that's my personal preference - I don't like thick cookies. The little one enjoyed her free shopping which was very generous in size. The hubby stated he didn't like his tea- he said it tasted like old bubblegum. My MIL loved her pumpkin slice and tea flavor of ginger and peach. So it was a hit and miss for us. They did have a lot of seating inside and outside in front of the store and they had a little area in back where we sat - they had wooden claw crab chairs. It was a nice area with a nice view of Luna's the restaurant and seats on the grass. Side note for military family -...
