Impressed is a great word to use for GT's On The Bay! Beautiful views if you are seated inside or out!! Plus, they have a salad bar....and let's face it...a year after Covid started, an actual salad bar excited me the most.
We started with GT's Dip. I won't lie...this could have been better if they maybe sat it under the broiler to get hot and gooey with a nice cheesy crust on top but it was still pretty good. The chips served with it had a good seasoning.
I ordered the chicken carbonara. It had added wilted spinach with these amazing thick linguini noodles with 2 garlic French bread pieces. The grilled chicken was so tender and flavorful as well as the egg based alfredo sauce, I literally couldn't find anything to complain about in this dish.
My husband had a time...he wanted the Cajun pasta with the shrimp and crawfish but after finding out it had red sauce, he opted for the steamed shrimp. However, we found out they were the royal reds (head on) and he was out! (My husband is the less adventurous type). Anyway, he went with the pork chop. Oh my goodness...this bone-in pork chop stuffed with spicy sausage, onions, and peppers topped a mound of smashed sweet potatoes and was covered with a smokey bourbon BBQ sauce. This was paired with a side of perfectly seasoned greens! He was so happy he had made this choice even though he said the stuffing was a little too spicy for him.
We left with plenty of left-overs, including a piece of key lime pie. Haven't tried that yet but it is nice and thick with a thick crust.
GT's On The Bay is definitely a place everyone should try...
Read moreThree of us arrived about 6:00pm on a Wednesday in January. They were busy but not overly so. When you enter, you pass by a small area with T-shirts for sale, and the bathrooms. The ceilings are very high and so the place is very open. It’s a lot bigger inside than it appears from the parking lot. There is indoor and outdoor seating as well as a large bar. We were greeted promptly and taken to a table. Our waitress arrived within a minute and took our drink orders. For dinner, we ordered the GTS Grouper, the Firecracker Shrimp, the Totchos, and the Shrimp and Grits. All the serving sizes were very decent. The GTS Grouper was lightly breaded and baked. It was served on parmesan grits and topped with spinach and meuniere sauce. It was pretty good although the fish was a bit dry. The Firecracker Shrimp were typical of what you find in the area. Fried with a lightly spiced sauce. The grits part of the Shrimp and Grits was served as two fried rectangles. It was tasty but I was kind of over fried stuff after eating some of the Firecracker Shrimp. The shrimp served with the grits were a bit disappointing. Several of them were cool rather than warm as if they had been precooked earlier. They didn’t have much flavor unless you drenched them in the sauce. The Totchos didn’t tickle our fancy. The tots themselves were fine, we just didn’t care for the mixture of the different flavors with the pork and white sauce. Overall, just an ok dining experience. Nothing overly negative to say but nothing to rave...
Read moreI went to GT's last night with some family in town. It was fairly crowded but they have a ton of seating. My Father in Law likes to drink so he said we should sit at the bar. I don't drink often and I always feel awkward sitting at a bar for some reason. I don't even know a whole lot about alchohol asside from I like fruity drinks, whisky, and rum. My Father in Law striked up a conversation with the bartender, Tim, who was amazing. Tim made my husband a drink from the menu that has jalapenos in it. It was weirdly good. All of the drinks were very, very good. I've never tasted so many different drinks that were all fantastic in their own way in one sitting. Not only is Tim a very skilled bartender but he is also great to talk to. He had some great stories and he was good at multi-tasking while talking to us. He also listed off some of the top menu items and I think we all ordered an item he said was one of his top favorites. I had the cajun carbonara which was so tasty! My husband got the grouper and we aren't big on fish but we all agreed that the grouper was wonderful. The 2 teens in our group both got the shrimp & grits and said it was also tasty. Tim told us if we ordered the Key Lime pie he had a special drink to go with it. We did get the Key Lime pie and the drink he made tasted just like Key Lime pie. Thanks for the fantastic service Tim! We don't go out to Orange Beach much, but GT's is a great reason to...
