I hate to write a negative review. As a small business owner I know how important your brand is so I take these very seriously. I had to ship an expensive item to a company for maintenance. It made me a bit nervous, but we took it by the UPS Store in Orange Beach, had them package and ship it and we paid extra for the insurance to cover the item if it needed to be replaced. We've done this many times over the years and never had to make a claim until now. The item was damaged and we had to purchase a replacement. Katy at the local store has been very helpful and informative with the process, but unfortunately, the is out of her hands. We've been dealing with this since August, and the claim has finally officially been denied. The reason stated is that the original packaging was not saved. I have been in business for many years and receive many packages daily from multiple carriers. We have never saved original packaging. Boxes are unpacked, broken down and sent out for recycling. I can't imagine any company saves packages daily. Furthermore, the need for the original packaging was never explained to me as a condition of the insurance. Be careful shipping your valuables. Read moreMarch 24, 2023, 2:00 pm-ish. I just left the Orange Beach UPS store. I witnessed something pretty amazing there this afternoon. The UPS employee was apparently alone in the store. I was 4th in line and there were 5 people that came in behind me. I've had a box there for many years and have witnessed many of the employees being bombarded with customers all at one time. It's always a stressful situation for everyone. I was only picking up a package but the people in front of me were having packages shipped, ordering flyers, using the printing services, etc. In spite of these various requests, this employee was methodical. She kept her composure, and maintained a friendly attitude, all while assisting various people and answering a multitude of questions. She would be going back and forth between 2 or three of us at one time. I told her she deserved a reward, and asked her name. She laughed and said "Misty" and she went immediately to help the next customer. This Misti-lady, whom I have never met before- really needs to be teaching others how to handle stressful situations! Read moreNeeded to ship a box back home while on the road. I stopped by this location and took my box in. It was 24x18x18 and weighed just under 50lbs. The lady gave me a quote of over 300.00 to ship it home. I then asked for the cheapest rate as I knew that had to be an expedited rate. She then came up with a rate that was 118.00. This surprised me as just a couple of months ago, I used a UPS Store in TN and it cost 40.00 per box at that time. She said well with everything going on, (Covid) they have added some fees and she also stated USPS and Fed Ex wouldn't accept a package that size and weight. As I was in a hurry, I went ahead and paid for it. I have now been able to research this and it turns out UPS Ground would have been 54.84. Also USPS and Fed Ex both do accept these size packages as well. Not sure what she was trying to say with her previous statement.
