1st visit here. Realize this place specializes in boiled and broiled seafood in large amounts…However, my wife and I wanted fried scallops and fried oysters and lo and behold, there they were on the menu….or were they? Yes we saw it there in big bold letters. However our waiter said…no,no…you must call ahead to see if fried items are available….WHAT? They had oysters there…they had scallops there…it was on the menu… but per our waiter they didn’t….confusing huh?.. After questioning this young man we figured it out. The seafood that they fried was pre battered and they were out of everything breaded except for shrimp…No one in the kitchen knew how to fry seafood without it being pre breaded. At that point I didn’t want to know where they got their seafood…however…I ordered a shrimp po-boy …my wife the broiled, boiled boil in a bag scallops. Her food came out as a shrimp, scallop boil…she didn’t want shrimp..my po boy was 5 shrimp on a sub roll with lettuce and tomato. Ordered onion rings for a 1.00 up charge and they obviously were pre breaded frozen ones out of a bag, like I do at home. My wife’s food came out in a swollen bag..The waiter opened it and poured it out on a platter on the table. It was a undercooked portion of scallops that got ice cold quickly after being taken out of their oven bag. The affordability dollar signs on google have this place as 2 $$. It should be up a couple of notches. Needless to say I won’t return..cheaper and tastier to buy Gortons frozen seafood and...
Read moreWe visited this location as our one big seafood dinner on our vacation. the food was great...not one complaint on our food. we had a 13 top table. 12 of the 13 people had non alcoholic beverages...1 refill was given for the 2 hours we were there. one man in our party had 1 bloody mary(which had to be explained 3 times before they knew what he wanted) and 1 beer...about an hour into our dinner he asked for another beer...after 10 minutes I had to go to the bar to get the beer he had asked for. the waitress barely spoke english...we had to explain multiple things multiple times...bloody mary...melted butter(qt a seafood restaurant). Our food sat on a table across from ours for at least 5 minutes before they brought it to our table.. When we complained and told the assistant manager we were not willing to pay the 18% gratuity for the service we received the assistant manager argued with us. we were told the manager was only in the restaurant on some Thursdays so we could not speak to him. The assistant manager then proceeded to argue with me a few minutes later and told.us that we only complained because the man was drunk(he was far from drunk...I'm a woman and 2 beers and a bloody mary wouldn't get me drunk...I don't drink btw)...she then proceeded to argue with me OUTSIDE of the restaurant and laughed in my face(we have a recording). I'm not sure if this is the service your restaurant expects...but we are highly disappointed and would like the situation rectified. please feel free...
Read moreUpdate the owners clearly took the feedback about their clam chowder seriously because I tried it again recently and it was delicious! *
I have had Red Crab Juicy Seafood twice now. The first time I ordered via. DoorDash Delivery and the second time DoorDash Pickup. Both times the food was nice and hot. I've now tried their green mussels, black mussels, snow crab legs, clam chowder, hush puppies and potatoes/corn.
You get your choice of seasoning as well as seasoning level (i.e. mild, medium, hot, etc.). Each time I opted for Juicy Special sauce (which has a combination of Cajun, lemon pepper and garlic butter seasonings. Also, sliced garlic and butter). The seasoning/flavor was perfect each time. The seafood tastes fresh and is in-fact juicy!
The hush puppies and clam chowder were not my favorite. The hush puppies almost taste like polenta and are on the smaller side. There is some seasoning, but overall they are pretty underwhelming. I agree with another reviewer that the clam chowder is very watery. The flavor is there, but the consistency needs work. Also, I found that some of the potatoes in the clam chowder were not cooked well enough.
Overall, the actual seafood itself is great. Exceptional quality, flavor and portion sizes. I will definitely order again, but I will omit the hush puppies and clam chowder. I'd also be hesitant to try any...
