This was my first time at this restaurant. I met an good friend for lunch. After our meal, he looked at me and very uncharacteristically asked "so, what did you think?". I told him that my food was just "ok". I ordered the traditional breakfast and he had an egg sandwich. Both of our meals were not even warm when served. We compared notes and agreed that it wasn't a do over. The restaurant was not very full at all. It was a weekday so that is not surprising. Our server, Hunter, was very attentive and friendly. The service was excellent. When they brought our meals, they had a 50/50 chance of getting it right and chose wrong so we had to switch our plates. We both remarked at how, towards the end of our brunch around 12:30, the hostess sat two people right next to us - and I mean RIGHT next to us. There was almost no one in the entire back of the place. I think there were maybe three tables with people including us. After about 15 minutes, we were the only two tables in the entire back of the place; maybe, 20+ tables empty. It seemed very thoughtless of the hostess who was clearly seating us close together for the benefit of the wait staff and not the comfort of the guests. So, we spent the last 20 minutes of our brunch awkwardly trying to keep our conversation private. I think both tables felt it strange as the people next to us just stopped talking to each other completely. I did think my sausage was good - definitely the best park of my meal. There were two little tiny pieces of sausage but very delicious with a unique spicing. The eggs were just barely warm, the english muffin didn't even look toasted and they weren't warm enough to even melt butter. However, the item that really got my attention was the small pancakes. So, the up charge for the "two stack" of extra pancakes was $4.69. They were so small I actually asked Hunter if there had been a mistake. I have had pancakes all over the US and really enjoy trying them in restaurants new to me. Usually, I'll get one just to see if the place has a good recipe. I think it says something about a breakfast/brunch place if they can really nail a good buttermilk pancake. These pancakes were entirely forgettable. They almost tasted like a microwave pancake from a box. Maybe that just because they were cold. Again, I could barely melt my butter on them. Drive a few miles to the west and go to Anne's Kitchen for a better value and quality. A short stack of pancakes are more but you get two big delicious pancakes. Maybe it was just an off day for this spot but I don't think we will be going back. It's a shame. The other reviews look good but that was definitely not...
Read moreI recently discovered this chain in Easton with my daughter and loved it. We were so excited to see one coming open closer to Powell. I took my daughter and husband here today and had a very different experience than we had at the one across town.
Waited a pretty long time to be greeted by a server once sat. We were told there was confusion around who was assigned the table. Usually, that's no big deal for us, until the rest of our meal.
Our food took forever to come out. My shrimp Benny was cold (on a hot plate) my husband's bacon burger was lukewarm (on a hot plate), my daughter loved her grilled cheese! My meal would've been fantastic if it was hot, it did need a little flavor but was on the "healthy section" of the menu which I find can tend to be under-seasoned at a lot of restaurants so I just use hot sauce đ.
My husband asked for mayo for his burger (it was dry) the server went to get it and finally my husband had to go ask another server because my daughter and I had finished half our meals while waiting for her to come back.
She refilled my coffee cup halfway because the urn ran out of coffee and said she'd be back to refill and never came back.
In the dining area is a table used by the servers for rolling silverware, holding a bunch of drink cups and eating their meals. I've worked in foodservice, and understand breaks are hard to come by. I have never seen a restaurant with a server break (eat/drink) table set up in the dining area (where they are also rolling silverware, and you have to squeeze your way through to get to the bathroom).
We did end up having time to track down another server to get our check as well because our server could not be found again. Turns out they were in the bathroom most of our meal taking a phone call (heard when I went to the bathroom).
We really respect service workers and have few understand that things happen. But the issues with our meal today, weren't because of uncontrollable events.
The bathrooms were also pretty gross, which was surprising given that they were four staff members hanging out at the hostess stand when we left and several at the table setup in the dining area.
Check out the Easton one, the service and food are awesome! I will note though when we went there in December we waited a long time at our table to start only to find out that another server had to take our table because our assigned server quit on the spot that morning. So maybe it's a broader staffing issue? The server who did end up helping us was awesome even with...
Read moreWe tried a variety of things as we had a group of 5. Their tables are for 4 or less, so if you have a larger group plan to have two or more tables together.
The biscuit ( not the beignets which were also good, but the classic Southern biscuit) was fluffy, light, and buttery - everything a good biscuit should be. It was fabulous. Easily the best thing I had here and I will come back for another biscuit.
The chicken maple sausage was good. A little dry for a sausage in my opinion, but it was chicken sausage. The sausage gravy was good, but if it gets cold it congeals. The restaurant was a little cool and that didn't help.
The Belgian waffle was the real disappointment initially. It was rock hard. Belgian waffles are generally crisp outside and fluffy inside, this one was just hard. Like it was overcooked or precooked and allowed to sit around. Our table server immediately replaced it when I mentioned the issue, and the second one was better. Still more crisp then tender, but better.
If you stick to simple breakfast items - potatoes, eggs, biscuits - you are bound to have a great meal. In addition, the chicken for the biscuit sandwich and the chicken and waffles was done well - not greasy or soggy, but flavorful. The burgers, or possibly the bacon on the burger, had an odd smell/flavor to them, they were almost smoked like a natural casing sausage or hot dog. If you enjoy that, you will enjoy this. The burger was BIG - two patties plus bacon and other toppings made this burger massive.
The lack of a children's menu and the inclusion of quite a number of amazing cocktails, laced coffees, and interesting mocktails makes this a great brunch spot for adults.
The service we had was absolutely top notch. We went after 1, but before close. It wasn't so busy then despite...
