I really wanted to like this place - no let me take that back, I really wanted to LOVE this place.
I have many warm and fond memories of Eat Greek on Cameron Ave. in Lewis Center. It was one of our very favorite restaurants. We were frequent dine in customers and it was not uncommon for us to bring friends and family. In Fact, it was frequently on the first request list when considering a sit down meal. The food was oh, so good. The Service impeccible and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Special occasions: Eat Greek. Date night: Eat Greek.
Sitting down for table service, we looked forward to being waited upon. Ordering off the menu in courses, we usually started off with of few greek beers, ordering a number of different appetizers with warmly wrapped Pita for the table (served on actual plates); followed by a steaming hot entree (my favorite was the Lamb shanks). Of course, one could not leave Eat Greek without the delicious dessert offerings. Always satisfied. Always good. Never disappointed.
Then it happened - all good things come to an end and we learned that Eat Greek was leaving the Oak Creek Center; we were saddened
Fast forward to 2024: during a drive by to Meijers, I noticed that Eat Greek had returned to Lewis Center. Not convinced it was the same I called to confirm. "Yes" stated the gentleman answering the phone. "We are the same.Yes we have a dining room. No, sorry no beer yet"
Our excitement and anticipation returned and the circle of family and friends rejoiced but that was short lived.
Date Night: On the evening of December 11 @ 7:00 PM we decided to rekindle the love.
It was not the same. Not the same at all.
Our first indication was when we entered and asked for a table for two; the girl stated that things are different. No table service anymore. You order at the counter and you pick up the food much like any fast food joint. No service. No attention to detail.
Eat Greek had changed from a restaurant for dining into counter service of fast food (no coincidence that there was no one else eating in)
Instead of hot plated food, ours came on a tray lined with some sort of paper. The platter instead of being served on a dinner plate, place sparingly on this fast food tray.
Steaming hot as I remember. Not so much. In fact the food was ice cold. Our fries were cold. The Gyro meat was colder than the lettuce. Kinda of what you might expect frim a drive thru on a cold night - certainly not the sit down restaurant we came to cherish.
At the original, we became accustomed to the manager or server following up and asking how our meal was? Not here. No one did. (no server no one whose tip depended upon it).
Of note, the prices didnt change. Still cost over 30.00 for a couple of gyro platters but not even close in quality. No one asked. No one cared.
Of course if you were accustomed to take out from the former place I guess little has changed for you. For those of us who dined in its no longer the same.
At Cameron Ave, I recall fondly watching the owner/manager carving the Gyro meat off the rotating spit encased by a red hot flame keeping the food warm. In the new place. the Gryo meat was neither rotating nor being kept warm as the warming grates were off and all that remained was a small pilot light. No wonder the food was cold. Delaware County should insist on Food thermometers to ensure ServSafe.
is not the same EAT GREEK. the great restaurant of the past is gone and replaced with a fascimile that shares only a name and not the quality.
I shared my disappointment with the girl on my way out. She shrugged and said she understood. She would share my comments (although I doubt she did).
We thought that the last great meal we had at the Eat Greek on Cameron Avenue would be the memory that remained. True -that Cameron Ave restaurant was the last good Eat Greek Meal we had...but unfortunately the last memory was of this new place - and it will now be the lasting memory that has replace all that was good.we...
Read moreIn fairness, I am giving Eat Greek (Holt RD location) 4/5 STARS because they EARNED IT 100%
I have lived within .5 miles from this area for over 10 years and I have watched many business FAIL on that plaza! Although the location isn’t ideal, I am certain that their Successes will break that past statistic! On to my review:
Decor and atmosphere are still under development but that doesn’t stop this little hole in the wall family ran business from Wowing you with Sincerity and genuine kindness! 4/5 ** their Personal touch really shows through.
Menu
This Menu is either going to blow you away with the variety or cause you to step back and really delve into what your really in the mood for! I have ONLY eaten here twice So I can only speak of what I have experienced personally.
Portion Size Is unexpected as they serve you family size portions and don’t skimp on the ingredients as everything they serve is fresh.
Regardless of appetite Eat Greek Offers something for everyone including Vegetarians and vegans.
1st order philly Steak w Cajun fries, Greek side salad, New York Chz Cake and baklava.
everything was delicious and took me 2 sittings to finish. Food was HOT and correct! They even checked my order upon arrival to ensure it was correct!
2nd order (Next day)
Althena Burger fries, lentils soup and side salad.
Burger was cooked to perfection and much BIGGER than anticipated. I recommend splitting it or don’t over order on an empty stomach! This Greek burger tribute is nothing shy of perfection between two buns. Lentil Soup was packed with flavor and tasty minus the sliced carrots that kinda killed the silky texture normally found in lentil soup.
Side Salad was Crisp freshLettuce with feta tomato Greek Olive and tomato.. Bright and colorful perfect side for the Burger!
If you are or were a fan Of Lavash on High st. Then you are going to love EAT GREEK!!
overall I am very pleased to have been lucky enough to reside down the block so you can expect to see me often!
GREAT WORK...
Read moreIf I could I would give this place 6 stars! My family of 4 went there for the first time tonight. It was well worth the short trip from Delaware. What a delightful family restaurant!!!! We had originally just went for my husband to get a Gyro, because we had seen online they offered free kids meals with adult entrees, and we love to try new foods! I consider myself quite the 'foodie'! My kids devoured their Gyro & Chicken bowls! I got the Beef Shawarma plate & it was so delicious! You can tell everything is made with care & a very skilled hand. The service was absolutely amazing! One of the nicest waitresses & staff Ive ever experienced at a restaurant. At the end of our meal, they came up and gave us 4 spoons and a slice of strawberry cheesecake for free for it being our first time there. What a thoughtful gesture! Of course we all ate it up & let me tell you.....it was so thick and creamy. It had such a velvety texture and wasnt overly sweet like some cheesecakes are. It was without a doubt made in house. Will be returning & I highly recommend,if you havent already, try it out! Fresh ingredients, everything was made to order right in front of you, very cozy feeling inside, and they offer delivery! I look forward to trying many more dishes on the menu because it was hard to choose what to try first. We left happy & full & feeling like they treated us like family while we were there. Thank you for making a great ending to my...
