Mama Martha Wings & Seafood — Restaurant in Orange

We were traveling on a trip and got hungry so we googled food and looked at so many pics and reviews. I saw a pic of some okra here and decided I wanted okra that looked exactly like this pic. We came here for that reason only but were so very pleasantly surprised at the prices when we got there. Now the area was scary to me at first. But we went in anyway. And boy were we glad. We ordered regular fried wings and lemon pepper wings (my husband asked how in the world can you get a wing to be this crispy and still be juicy and delicious, okra (best okra over ever had and it looked exactly like the pic), fried oysters (best I’ve had as well), we had fried shrimp that tasted great as well and they came with fried rice that I have to be honest about. The rice was extremely hard and lacked pizazz. We tossed the rice. And we also had a shrimp boil that we weren’t too crazy about either. The sauce was sweet and incredibly spicy and we love more of a Cajun flavor. Those shrimp were slightly overcooked also. But I wouldn’t discredit this place at all because you can’t win them all. I must say the visit to Marthas 2 seafood in Orange texas today was not my first time , however it was my first time having their salt and pepper and buffalo wings order! The order in addition to the delicious flavor comes with shrimp fried rice or fries and a role with salad. The price is 11.95 for about 15 wings. Not to mention the serene environment and the pleasant owners were having a family dinner that consisted of pizza and a boiled seafood platter which they so graciously offered for us to sample. We went the Mama Martha’s 2 and it was sooooo good!! I honestly don’t understand the reviews that are anything below 4 stars. We got a boiled combo with shrimp and crab legs plus an order of frog legs. Everything was amazing but the frog legs were on another level. Everything tasted really fresh. It was a ton of food, we were both completely stuffed and had enough leftovers for us both to eat on again.

I saw some reviews about the food tasting like “old grease” and there being “trash everywhere,” neither one of those were true for our visit. It’s not an upscale place but it was clean enough and I personally like the hole in the wall atmosphere, it’s unassuming and comfortable.

I also saw a review about no bathrooms but that was not true for our visit either, you just have to ask...
