El Toro Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Orangeburg

12 El Toro about 3 weeks ago to have a beer in about 3:30 in the afternoon, sat at the bar and had an amazing intellectual conversation with two people look like a couple. Come to find out they are both professors at Claflin University. Judging by the alarm level of intellect I can say with certain Jew students who attend Claflin University are fortunate to have such wise and open-minded teachers professors. It was a very nice environment how to maybe a total of about 8 people in there four five of the bar which seated in 20 and maybe a couple tables had a few people that them. But the Ambiance was quiet and very kosher, so when I decided to go back to eat there last Friday with my father another doctor and also a professor or Claflin I thought that would be the perfect place to have a drink a cocktail and maybe even dinner. Now while the service was amazing, the beverages were perfect the ambiance had drastically changed!!! No Granite this was about 7 on a Friday evening, but it certainly was not that far off the time from when I was there a few weeks ago and had an enjoyable experience. This time around the bar was packed, there were no seats at the bar and the tables were all full. The scenery had made a 180° !!! It went from a quiet sophisticated meditative environment to what looked like a reenactment of downtown New Orleans on the day of Mardi Gras. I am unspeakably disappointed in the service provided by Fernando this evening at El Toro. I walked in to celebrate a birthday with my friend’s fiancé. I asked where they were seated. He pointed me in the direction which was absolutely perfect. I walked back saw my friends and sat down. Almost immediately afterwards before i was even asked to what I would like to order or handed a menu their food was being brought to the table. Fernando told me I needed to move and that I was in the way. When I asked how that could remedied (because it was tight on both sides) he told me that I’d be in the way and offer no resolution. It’s her birthday. I don’t want to cause any embarrassment. I sat to the side of the table and asked for a menu. He did bring it. I’m ready to order. I have to find Fernando in the front. Fraternizing. I asked to place my order. He told me he would take it at the table. I refused. I had to walk all the way up to the front to order. Then he could absolutely take my order there. In ending I cancelled my order. We left.

With all the respect I hope that the next customer isn’t spoken to or treated in this manner. I hope that this is corrected. Customer service is something I take pride in. My expectations are high in this regard. This was less than below the bar. I’m disappointed in Fernando’s representation of this establishment.

This review is based upon multiple visits. The drinks are great & the food is good as well. THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE & RUDE. My server was Elma on all occasions. On one visit she took our drink order & food order & we didnt see her again until we paid our bill. No refill on my drink & if we wanted to order something else she was nowhere in site. We had to get up from our table to pay our bill. On this ocassion same server & service. I ordered an entree that had a choice of beef or chicken. She took my order and I didnt get a chance to tell her I wanted chicken. She came back with beef and refused to change my meal to chicken. I let her know she didnt ask or give me a chance to tell her. She shrugs her shoulders and said its on the menu using a rude hand gesture. We also ordered drinks later but after 30 mins of waiting on drinks we had them removed from our bill because we nevered recieved them and we were ready to go at this point.
