IHOP — Restaurant in Oregon City

Man, oh man. Where to begin? I know: the staff. The staff was amazing. I believe the manager sat us and waited on us while we were there. He was amazing, top notch service and an amazing guy. The reason for this one star review was because of the food. My girlfriend ordered the steak, shame on her for ordering steaks at a pancake house. When this slab of mystery meat was slid in front of her, I couldn’t tell if it was steak or a piece of rotten whale fat. This thing was straight up grey. Not only did it look bad but it smelled worse that my toilet after eating the Taco Bell #7 combo. It looked like it had been marinating out in the sun since the day of Jesus’ birth. In fact, it was probably the meat from the cow that was one stable over. Next we move on to my moms Turkey. Again, shame on them for ordering meat from a pancake house. Her turkeys was anything but. I would’ve accepted deli sandwich meat Turkey over this. The strips that were sitting on her plate looked like prison food and I’m pretty sure I saw it breathing. I tried a bite of it and I can confidently say that I would’ve rather eaten my brothers sock, and he has athletes foot, by the way. I ordered the omelette, because it was the most normal looking breakfast-y breakfast on the menus. It was alright, although I’m pretty sure the roast beef in it (which should not have been in it, according to the menu) was straight out of the cooks personal lunchbox because he ran out of fresh ingredients. I want to start with I LOVE IHOP. I have worked at a location before and come regularly to different joints. The first time I came here it was great. I even had the same server. She was on her feet and had a great attitude. Today, I show up and after waiting for a bit at the front (when the entire restaurant was empty) i thought they were closed but waited just in case. Finally I was seated and was able to order. I ordered and literally just had started eating when my server goes in the back, with managers present, and proceeds to joke around and swear, and also did not tell me before seating me that they were closing due to weather. Otherwise i would have just waited till they were fully open. Then and I kid you not 15 minutes after I received my food I got the bill, with the excuse of “we’re closing in 10 minutes.” I arrived at 1:15 pm. Yes there was weather but nothing terrible, I drove 25 minutes to eat there. I understand closing early but the establishment could have told me they were closing within the hour before seating me. That and with the gossip and swearing I heard being seated was unacceptable, I have been a server in the past and that should never fly. Gossip where the customer cant hear you, especially when its dead and the one person on the floor can hear everything...

We visited Ihop on 24th April before going on a Hike. While having breakfast, my friend accidentally dropped his wallet after payment. We left for the hike, and after 6 hours of Hike, we realized that his wallet was missing. We weren’t sure if we dropped it somewhere on the trail or somewhere else.

I called up IHOP, Tony answered the call, and he was extremely polite and said he would look and let me know. After few minutes, we got a call back from him that indeed there was a wallet found by staff and it's kept safely, and we can take it whenever we want.

We were extremely delighted and went in and took our wallet from Tony. My friend tried to tip Tony as a token of thanks and his reply will stay in our hearts forever as a sign of great hospitality. He said, “No, sir, that's your money. It belongs to you. You can tip us if you have food here and like our service. But returning your wallet was not my service; it was my duty & humanity, and for that, I can’t accept the tip. I want you guys to come back, have food here at IHOP and then tip us”. Wow, this was such a powerful and fantastic word.

I think every store and every restaurant needs a Tony. I never give five stars to any restaurant unless my mind is blown, but it was blown thanks to the excellent...
