=== 2nd Visit Update === The experiance was just as good as the first time. Give this place a try!
This is a fast casual type of restaurant. You order at the counter and pay. Then they cook your food and deliver it to your table. There is a self-serve soda fountain, and condiments out for you to grab on your own. Mayo, salt, pepper, Sriracha and a few other things that I am forgetting.
We were there about 12:45 on a Friday, not busy, just a couple people there. Since we have not been here before, I asked a few questions and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered and had our food in 5 minutes. By that time another 5-6 people came in.
I took a look at the reviews before coming in today. I noticed many reviews were the week of, or the week after they actually opened. Just over a month ago. All new staff, new cook, everyone still in training. All businesses need time to work out the bugs. Now, about 5 weeks after opening, it all seemed like a clean, well-oiled machine to me.
There were two of us, and we both ordered the Chicken Gyro, just the way it comes. Grilled Chicken, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Tzatziki and Feta. The pita was warm and soft, and chicken was hot and moist, with plenty of nice sized chunks of chicken, with just a little char. Also, a good amount of Tzatziki sauce, just the way I like it. And, the Tzatziki sauce was very good. It does not taste like it is just Greek yogurt, like some places that I have tried.
While eating, I made the comment that it was nice that they serve your food to you on an actual plate, with a metal fork and knife, and not just in a paper a wrapper, delivered to you on one of those plastic fast-food trays. Very nice touch.
Overall, we both enjoyed our meal. The Gyro was large in size, and the pita filled up. I ate half there, and brought the other half home. I ate the other half about 2 hours later, and as to be expected, the pita was a bit soggy. PRO TIP: If you get a Gyro to go, get the Tzatziki sauce on the side, that way, the Pita will survive the trip.
In today’s prices, I felt that $11.49 for a freshly made Chicken Gyro, in a well filled up Pita was a fair price. They had a special on the table, where you can get a Gyro, Fries, and a drink for $14.95. So, for a combo, that also seems like a fair price, about what you pay for fast food burger combo, but this is quite a bit healthier.
What I would have liked / what would make it better…
When I get a Gyro, I generally ask for whatever spicy sauce they have. Here, they had a brand of sriracha that I have not heard of before. It was more on the sweet side, and had very little heat, if any. I like a mild to medium heat, with a little kick from some sort of peppers.
The Feta. They were very small crumbles, and hardly noticeable in the Gyro.
We will be back for the Chicken Gyro, and to try some other menu items. I’m thinking I need to try the Hummas Appetizer, Greek Salad, and I was also eyeballing the steak Skewers.
They may have had some food and service issues when they first opened. But to me, they all seem to be resolved now. Give this...
Read moreThis menu is very deceiving! You're better off going to Corner 14 and getting the real deal from the Shawarma Express food cart (The real deal, more for your moneys worth too) Ordered a Gyro with "Gyro Meat" (Thought I was ordering a normal lamb Gyro, but NOT - 90% meat, 10% lamb) Ordered a Kids Souvlaki Plate - Chopped salad was missing, ordered a Medium Rare Steak Tenderloin skewer (was very tough, and was well done, & chewy), Feta Fries was soggy
While waiting for my order, which was told 15 minutes, I looked over the reviews & found there is no lamb in the Gyros. When I got my order, I asked if the Gyro had lamb and was told no, it was a "blend" - and then asked if lamb was available, and was told yes, but when I asked why it's not on the menu directly as an option under Gyro (only Gyro Meat or Chicken Breast are the options) - was told I had to ask?!?! When I asked to have my Sandwich remade with lamb, was told to wait while they "phoned their supervisor" to talk about this.......I would have gladly paid for the meat substitution, but was told after a 5 minute that I 'could pay for an extra sandwich
Why wasn't there a supervisor onsite? Only opened for 1 week and the staff was very young and obviously inexperienced.
I won't be going back & strongly suggest if you're wanting a "Lamb Gyro", this is not the...
Read moreHave you ever been to a place that you know is close to being great? Well…this is that place! The service was amazing, truly, the people that were working there attentive, kind, polite, engaging and helpful. The restaurant was clean, tastefully adorned and had pleasant music in the air. The appetizers were good and fairly priced. Their misses were on the main dishes, the absence of additional condiments and beverages. I had the Great Greek Gyro(beef/lamb), the flavor was there, however, the meat was hella dry, almost crispy dry. And my wife had the Grilled Chicken Souvlaki, it was a bit short on flavor and also, dry as a popcorn fart. I would love to see them add a spicy garlic sauce and something like a Toum to supplement the dishes. The Last bit of feedback I have would be to spice the drink selection, even if it was only like tea or coffee. Maybe it was an off night for the meat, but we’ll definitely go back, even it’s it only for some appetizers and to see...
