Terrible service from rude staff –
I’ve been a regular customer at Khao San in Bethany Village, but after today, I’m done—most likely will not be back.
I ordered the Thai Binto Box – Mussamun Curry Chicken (B1) and clearly pointed to it on the menu. The regular person was out. And the lady server had a bad attitude from the start and didn’t seem to understand anything if not repeatedly said. Another customer behind me had to step in to help explain when I asked if it's sweet or spicy. She told me it wasn’t sweet, and I went ahead with the order.
Instead of the Thai Binto Box, she brought just the regular Mussamun Curry Chicken from the main menu. I reminded her I had ordered B1 from the Thai Binto Box, and she rudely insisted I hadn’t. She eventually brought a salad but acted like she was doing me a favor. When I asked about the Thai iced tea that’s included with the Binto Box, she claimed I had to pay extra for it—even though I clearly ordered from the Binto section.
She was dismissive, defensive, and refused to acknowledge her mistake. When I asked for a refund, she took two tries to process it correctly and remained rude throughout. One point even said she is busy - the store was empty with only one other customer and I need to call owner to process refund for the food I didn't order and don't want to eat anymore after her attitude!!! She even told me I could complain to the owner, saying she didn’t care.
This is unacceptable. It is hurting your business especially when you have someone like this employee who is rude to even regular customers. I most likely will not return until this employee is no longer working here, and I’ll make sure others are aware of the kind of service they...
Read moreI had been very eager to visit this place after hearing such wonderful things about it. And it was indeed wonderful for the most part. Great atmosphere - indoor/outdoor dining with cool Thai "street" décor. The service was top notch and the food was delicious. We ordered a lot of dishes - appetizers and mains - that we all shared. The sweet potato fries and spicy dipping sauce were awesome. And the pumpkin curry had a good sweet/spicy balance. Other dishes included the beef with wide noodles (can't recall the name) and the spring rolls. Those were good, but not great. There were just two disappointing aspects of our visit: First, the cocktails - a Moscow mule and a cucumber-basil infused vodka concoction - both were terrible. I felt guilty for not liking them since I watched as the bartender freshly grated and carefully muddled the ingredients to make them, but alas they were just Bad. The second disappointment was the shrimp and rice dish I ordered (it's blue crab on the menu, but they substituted shrimp for me). There were only 4 shrimp in the whole dish - not particularly large shrimp at that - for an $11 dish. I even verified with the server that the dish was supposed to have Four shrimp in it. Just disappointing for the price. All the same, I'll likely return. The flavors were great and the atmosphere even better. Great place to meet up with friends. I'll just stick to non-shrimp menu...
Read moreOkay, first I have to say that the food is very good. I've eaten here several times and the food never disappoints. Also, everything on the menu is labelled if it has shellfish, dairy, etc, which is helpful for those with dietary restrictions. These are the pros.
Now, I hadn't been to the restaurant for a while and when I went in last night, they had two new servers. The young woman serving us was absolutely horrible. We sat waiting for someone to come take our order and the only reason she came to our table was because my sister accidentally made eye contact with her. Then she rolled her eyes and came to our table.
When she reached our table she didn't say a word to us, just stood there with her pad of paper staring at us. So we ordered and she walked away. She never brought us our drinks (although the other server who eventually did was very sweet). And when she brought us our food, again she didn't say a word to us. She set the food in the middle of the table a little harder than strictly necessary and then walked away. And when we asked for to-go boxes, she never brought them.
So basically she made it very clear that us being there was a burden on her life and job. It was kinda not cool.
My recommendation is to order out (they do takeout orders and Grubhub), that way you don't have to deal with the...
