I visited this coffee shop last night (January 1st) because of all the great things I’d heard about it, but my experience was nothing short of appalling.
While waiting to place my order, I witnessed the cashier, Ola, yelling at a male coworker in front of a packed coffee shop. She berated him, cursed at him, and completely humiliated him. It was shocking and disgusting to see this level of unprofessionalism. The poor employee was visibly upset and left his shift shortly after. I regret not standing up for him, and honestly, I feel ashamed for staying after witnessing such behavior. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and this business needs to do better.
If that wasn’t bad enough, when I picked up my order, the experience with another employee (a hijabi barista) was equally frustrating. I had ordered three drinks, but she only handed me two. When I politely asked about my third drink, she snapped at me, saying, “I KNOW, don’t worry you’ll get your drink,” before storming off. When she returned with the drink, she screamed my name even though I was standing right in front of her. Her rude and dismissive attitude made an already uncomfortable experience even worse.
The lack of professionalism and respect from the female employees is astounding. Between the way they treat their coworkers and customers, it’s clear that this business has serious issues. I won’t be coming back and definitely do not recommend...
Read moreAs someone who lives in Orland Park, I was excited to see what this new café had to offer. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. The moment I walked in, I noticed two grown men (who I’m guessing are managing the café) sitting in a corner, staring at everyone who walked in. As a girl, this made me feel very uncomfortable. The wait time was ridiculous—25-30 minutes just to order, and another 30 minutes for my drink to come out. To top it off, the drink wasn’t even what I ordered because the girl at the register (light brown/orange hair) clearly didn’t know what she was doing. When I addressed this, one of the men in the corner quickly got up and told me he was one of the owners. While he did have my drink remade, he barked the order at one of the workers in a tone that was far from professional. It then took an additional 15-20 minutes to get the correct drink. While waiting, I noticed workers yelling and even cussing at each other behind the counter. To make matters worse, the other man (a shorter guy) was loudly yelling at the staff, micromanaging everything. The whole atmosphere was chaotic and stressful—not at all what I expect from a café. This was such a disappointing experience. As someone who wanted to support a new local business, I can confidently say I won’t be coming back. This place needs serious improvements in management, staff training, and overall...

This place rocks! What didn’t they do wrong? Exactly—that’s the point. They’ve done everything right, and done it well.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a beautiful, lush tropical ambience. The décor draws you in—it’s absolutely gorgeous. Employees welcome you with genuine smiles and a graciousness that makes you feel they’re truly glad you came to share in their offerings. The menu is generous, with a wide variety of hot and cold drinks to choose from.
I ordered a pistachio latte, and it was nothing short of phenomenal—a smooth, velvety taste with rich, full-bodied flavor. I thought I might need to add cream and sugar-in-the-raw, but it was perfect as it was. The barista had the golden touch. One sip, and I was in coffee paradise.
To pair with it, I chose a beautifully baked, glazed doughnut. It didn’t have that generic grocery-store taste—it was moist, fresh, and subtly sweetened with just the right amount of glaze.
I’m used to seeing coffeehouses like this in downtown Chicago, but to have one in my own suburban neighborhood made me one very happy coffee connoisseur. Impeccable service, delicious handcrafted coffee, fresh pastries and sandwiches, an ambience that invites you to “sit awhile,” and plenty of seating options—Marouf Cafe is a gem...
