Decent food at above average fast food prices. This was my first time visiting this restaurant in Orland Park. I am using Jerusalem Cafe, which is my favorite quick bite Mediterranean / Middle Eastern restaurant, as a comparison. I ordered the chicken shawarma pita and my son ordered the beef kabob pita. Personally I thought both sandwiches visually were a little underwhelming. Jerusalem Cafe serves a pita which looks to be colorful and almost erupting out of the pocket. The insides of pita pita sandwich could only be seen if you opened the pocket. My chicken was not seasoned very much. My son, who is young in age, actually commented that his sandwich did not seem to have very much beef compared to sauce and lettuce. He actually didn't finish it because he felt like he could not taste the meat and everything else was overpowering. We both agreed that the fries were actually pretty good. For two drinks, two sandwiches, and two fries, our total came to around $30. The same meal at Jerusalem Cafe in Oak Park probably comes around 26. It's just my opinion, but pita pita was just a little too fast food quality compared to JC for me. I feel like their prices are just a bit too high for what you get in return. I'm not saying the place is bad by any means just that I feel like it could have been a lot better. I would probably only return if someone asked me to go there. It's a long drive but I probably stick to Jerusalem Cafe for...
Read moreThis is not your average middle eastern joint, Pita Pita is anything but! I wandered in with two friends on a Friday night, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of steak being grilled. The restaurant was filling up quickly (it was almost 7:00 pm) but we managed to snag a table.
We ordered the mixed grill, a dozen falafel and hummus to share. The falafel and hummus came out first along with freshly baked pita bread. The herbs and spices used in the falafel taste so good, every bite had a great consistency with very little oil. The hummus had perfect texture with just the right amount of olive oil. I did wish we ordered the large, then again we were hungry. However, when our main entrees arrived, our expectations continued to be exceeded.
The mixed grill was full of flavor. A combination of rib eye shish kabob( my favorite), chicken tawook, chicken/ beef shawarma, beef kufta all grilled to perfection. The spices worked together beautifully on all the meats. Each meat had its own delicious taste that you will not find anywhere else. The rice and salad with the homemade dressing topped that plate off along with the grilled onions and tomatoes. By the end of the meal we were planning our next visit.
This place is perfect for groups or a casual date night. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, living a gluten-free life, grew up on Middle Eastern food, or just love falafel and shawarma… this...
Read more7/7/2025 around 6:15 pm. I witnessed the short girl with the hat who was running the register handling food with her hands from behind the kitchen window, then touching everything in between - the doors, the bags, trays, then the vacuum cleaner. Yuck 🤢..who hires these 20 year olds? It's quite amazing how in plain view, I witnessed all of this through the kitchen window. She clearly has no work ethic or experience.
On top of that, I was waiting by the register..and instead of coming from the kitchen to communicate with me, she gave me a thumbs up (as in "are you good"?) without saying a word from the kitchen window. I had to talk to her because she didn't wanna say a word. How can someone have no basic customer service skills? I am not one of her friends to give a thumbs up to expecting me to know that it's a way of asking whether I wanted something. I am CLEARLY waiting by the register, it's common sense for anyone who isn't socially inept.
Pita Pita is mostly fine but I've had a few issues throughout the years like finding hair in my food which I didn't complain about, to missing utensils, and basic condiments, straws, spoons, forks, hummus etc. and I keep giving them chances because 80% of the time, they do a good job, but I am getting turned off again. The lack of hygiene and professionalism are where I draw the line. These cannot...
