I recently dined at Papa Joe's in Orland Park for my Aunt's birthday. I have to give a big shoutout to Katie, who answered my questions over the phone about my upcoming visit for dinner and she made sure we had the most popular/best table in the dining room. She was so nice, friendly and accommodating! She really represents this restaurant well. Thank you Katie for all you did-- Our server was Nikki. She was also very nice and friendly and kindly brought us more of the hot fresh complimentary bread when we wanted more. Our food came out correctly and all, however it was noticed by my family and I that the dinner course was brought out way too fast, as I was just getting started on my salad, literally, and finishing my -just lukewarm- cream of spinach soup. I wish the soup would have been served hot. Not Nikki's fault. I should have said something about the not-up-to-par temp, but I wanted to not make a fuss about it and have it nooked. I had to kindly ask for my wonderful looking plate of lasagna to be kept warm in the hot window while I ate my salad. Timing the courses would have made the experience better. I did not get to really enjoy my salad. The bread and the lasagna were so good though! We weren't given any dessert plates or spoons/forks for the tiramisu that I ordered. It was awkward sitting there with the dessert in front of us but nothing to eat it with as the table was pretty much cleared of everything by the busser before the tiramisu arrived. We ended up just taking the tiramisu to-go. It was so creamy and yummy, and we did enjoy it at home. Although Papa Joe's is not a fine dining establishment, I just wish the courses would have been timed better according to the guests' pace. I appreciate how friendly the staff is and will dine-in again in the future.

My wife and I come up to visit her family frequently and we order from Papa Joe's at least once per visit. Normally we have a very positive experience, however the last two times we ordered it has been the opposite. We ordered 2 large pizzas and two orders of baked mostaccioli for a family gathering. Both of the pizza's had their toppings slide off (I only took a picture of the worst one), neither of the baked mostacciolis had the top layer if cheese and one had very little sauce. In the previous order we had the same issue with the mostaccioli (no cheese on top) and one of our pizzas was undercooked and not sliced while the other was overcooked. Both of these orders were placed on a Saturday evening so I am assuming that there was a lot of activity during that time so I could understand this happening once and would probably not thought anything of it but twice in a row is the start of a problem. If volumes are that high have the person taking orders let people know that due to high volumes there may be an extended wait or that some items may not be available for delivery. This would be much more acceptable than paying for food that is incorrectly prepared or damaged in transit. The quality of the food is why we are ordering from Papa Joe's and not Papa John's. *Update - we have had no further issues like the ones mentioned above.

I have to say that I’ve neglected one of my local restaurants in Orland Park. Papa Joe’s has been around for a long time. The food has always been great. All the Italian favorites are served here including pizza. The chicken tetrazzini is spectacular and their broiled chicken is fabulous. The thing I really appreciate is that they include a dinner salad or soup with the entree. Their portions are big enough that you will take another meal home with you. This is a classy place to eat. Give it a try. Sometimes you look all over for a great meal and there is an old standby sitting right under your nose. A diner with bread and salad for under 20 bucks. The other day I had a subway sandwich for 12 dollars.

Food is normally great that isn't my issue. The issue is extremely filthy plates and silverware and rude staff. On a slow night with way more staff than customers my service was beyond trash. Which I could even deal with that but it took me 6 tries to get 2 clean forks and 1 clean knife....and 5 plates.

Do you realize how insane that is?

Food is great smell in main dinning area with fire place also smelled of urine. Again I could let all of that pass if silverware and plates were clean.

The chicken is one of their best assets for sure. My bill was $61 for a pasta and pizza and 2 drinks very fair planned to tip but didn't because service was that bad ignored several times with salad on table but not even 1 clean utensil to eat or even a clean plate. Took around 15 minutes before anyone tried to assist yet about 10 customers in entire resteraunt 8 of which at bar....

Girl gave us dirty utensils 2 x so I had to grab from other tables took me several tries to get anything clean and per roll 1 clean utensil. Also 1 napkin filthy. 😆 like come on. Would you tip for that?

Drinks were great and so was the pasta. Pizza was undercooked and lacked flavor. Again Food really wasn't the issue for me nor price.

Have been going for many years now and I enjoy it. I've had better service on a super busy night 😆 🤣 irony.

Have bad service fine...clean utensils and 🍽 make that a priority to fix. Food is good enough I can put up with a lot but I'm a clean person who expects basic not flakes of food on everything.

This has always been an issue here why? A staple restaurant that can't or won't clean utensils. Great chefs though 👌 👏

For $61 didnt feel it was worth it i should have gone somewhere else as the experience was embarassing and frustrating. Pizza was only food item i had issues with forgiveable i didnt get sick at least. Me and my wife tried make the best of a bad experience but sucked as we were really looking...

Not that great. When you walk in, you have to go all the way in to find ladies behind the counter to help you be seated. The seating is very dated and kind of cramped. My husband and I were brought to the middle level right next to another group. If we had 4 people, the one would have never been able to get into the one spot because it was behind stairs. You are served water first and then asked if you want anything else. If you order an entree you also get soup, bread, salad, pasta salad, and cucumber salad. I could eat their cucumber salad every day it is so good! For dinner my husband ordered the chicken limone and I got spaghetti with the marinara sauce and added meatballs. The meatballs are the main reason I am giving such a low review. It was so dense and hard that my knife could barley even cut it. I have had better meatballs at chain Italian restaurants. I was expecting a delicious homemade meatball and I was extremely disappointed. My husbands chicken was delicious. The other thing that really took the rating down was the music. I am in an Italian restaurant. There were 2 Jimmy Buffett songs on in a row. I have never been at an Italian place that didn't have Italian classics playing. It was odd and kind of ruined the mood of the night. We had gift cards that we finished off so we probably won't be back, not that we would be missing out on...
