I’m so DISAPPOINTED in the customer service that my husband and I received earlier this week. First, I had to walk over to a waitress and ask her if she could grab our waiter, because we saw multiple people getting served moments after they walked in. We truly felt invisible and embarrassed. Moments later, we finally placed our order, in a very polite manner, because again, I understand they were a bit busy and maybe she just didn’t get a chance to get to us yet. When she brings out our food, I noticed that she gave me an extra plate of pancakes, I told her that I did not order those, but she put an extra $12 on the bill for them anyways.
Next, we noticed everyone else around us was provided with ketchup, pepper, and salt, and hot sauce, but for the duration of our meal which was around an hour and 15 minutes, no one ever came around to provide us with any table condiments.
Now I’m usually not a person that complain when I go out, because I just wanna enjoy the experience, but it was just too much going on to not speak with the manager, which was a huge waste of time because she was also no help at ALL! She seemed to have a nonchalant attitude and told us that she would take our waitress off the floor and speak to her about this and she would correct the bill and take the pancakes off. Less than 2 minutes later, we were leaving the patio seating area and walking out and to our surprise the waitress who served us was still casually walking around serving others. So my guess is that they were really busy and the manager didn’t have a chance to talk to her because she needed her on the floor.
I really hated the way this whole situation was handled, so I reached out to a corporate email address I found on their website and expressed my concerns. And do you think someone actually took the time to reach back out to me?? Ha…Nope!
This experience was very disappointing, especially since we always receive top-notch customer service at the Hyde park location. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the pancakes and chicken sausage was really good, but we will never be visiting this...

I had the pleasure of dining at The Original House of Pancakes in Orland Park this Sunday morning, and it was nothing short of an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a staff and management team that truly understands the art of hospitality.
Service & Cleanliness: Impeccable! One of the first things I noticed was the high level of cleanliness. The glassware and flatware were spotless—free of watermarks or streaks—a rare and refreshing detail that immediately set the tone for a high-quality dining experience. The manager and staff were visibly engaged, ensuring every guest was well taken care of. It has been years since I’ve seen such a strong and attentive team in action, and it was a pleasure to witness.
The Food: Absolutely Divine! Now, let’s talk about the food—perfection on a plate! I ordered the turkey link sausage with hash brown potatoes, green peppers, and pancakes, while my husband enjoyed the steak omelet. The pancakes were light, fluffy, and delicious down to the very last bite—exactly what you’d hope for from a restaurant known for them. Every item was cooked with care, delivering both flavor and quality.
Attentive & Professional Service During our meal, we had a minor incident with a broken glass. However, our server was quick, professional, and handled it seamlessly, replacing the glass immediately without any disruption to our experience.
The consistent presence of staff and management was refreshing—ensuring that every detail was taken care of. It’s rare to see such dedication to quality service these days, and The Original House of Pancakes truly delivered.

Read moreWe’ve been coming to this place forever (not often but once in awhile) and today when we arrived we were told it would be about 5 to 10 minutes which was fine we chose to wait. The issue started after we were seated. Our waiter came around about 5 minutes after we were seated which again was fine because they were crowded. We placed two orders and we sat there for close to 40 to 45 minutes and received nothing other than two more glasses of water about 15 minutes prior. There was a couple who came in about 10 or 15 minutes after us ordered a good amount of food and received it within minutes and when I say they ordered a lot I mean ALOT. The couple in front of us order a few minutes after us and received there’s well after the other couple as well but they still received their order before us. At that point, we had to flag down a different waiter because ours hadn’t showed up in awhile. Our waiter finally comes around and the sorry excuse they gave us was “the kitchen is really backed up right now with take out orders” that’s a sorry excuse because that place stays packed but it’s also showing me the kitchen is not organized. Why are orders not being made in order as they come in? We’re also wondering if our order was even put in at that point. We decided to get up and leave. We did inform the manager and all we got was a “I’m very sorry and I’ll let my GM know” which we know won’t happen. We must say thank you to this location because you helped save us some money as we went home and cooked our own breakfast at that point. We probably won’t be back here soon. We usually go to Sophias more often than not for breakfast because the staff there know us and they are fantastic and food comes out pretty quick even when their packed but we chose to unfortunately...
