Amazing food amazing service, breakfast prices great and the people are nice. I hope this place stays open!!
Update 09/21/2025 So this morning, I brought my family to enjoy Perks which has been a mainstay of mine for almost ten years. I've always loved the food, reasonable prices...even when they had to use Styrofoam cups for 18 months due a drain field issue.
But today will be my final visit. The food was the worst I've ever had at a restaurant and all but 2 of the nine people I brought didn't like theirs either.
The service was good and amazing as always. No one went thirsty. This criticism is directly soley at the cook(s):
All of the fried food was burnt and gross. The country fried steak and fried home fries tasted like bad oil and were burned. Fried charcoal taste permeated those dishes. The fried biscuit tasted rubbery. My nieces and nephews didn't eat/like their food. Most just pecked at the fries.
We did overwhelm the cook with 9 orders, which we waited about 20-35 minutes for, but given the time, and the fact the food was nearly not edible....there's just no excuse.
Again the oil in fryers is old and needs to be changed out. I've worked in food service and its clearly bad.
3 of us became ill afterwards, including myself. Tossed our cookies type sick.
So....this is the end of an era. The prices are obviously not what they were, but we spent well over $100 and a box store though pricier wouldn't have made these basic culinary mistakes. It shows no one cares. And the German roach at the table as we left sealed the deal. Would not recommend. Needs new cook, cleaning, and new furniture. The booth seating is...
Read moreThe good the bad and the ugly . First thought- I would eat here again. The food was like mom would make. No frills, nothing you are amazed at, but tasty and filling with good portions for your dollar. Coffee has free refills and is very good. The staff is warm, attentive, and professional. We were greeted on walking in like you might be when coming home. Seat yourself with ample seats available. The front greets veterans with a nice window mural which is nice for us vets. (Young people- serve your country- freedom isn’t free or a guarantee). The inside is a trip back to 1964. The booths and seats are likely the originals with holes in many of the vinyl seats. The paint may have been redone in the 90s. Tears, chips, hand prints on the walls make it look dirty. The tables are clean and the utensils though very old and cheap are clean and sealed on the table. Our waitress tells us the new owner has only had the place just over a year and they struggled due to road closures. I hope she rewards her employees with a living wage for their loyalty during hard times and puts some money into the decor as this place is likely to become more popular. Come try this old gem in the rough. It won’t break the bank, you’ll leave full, and you’ll help support a non...
Read moreWell my wife and I have been eating here or picking up call in orders at least two days a week for a couple of months and I like the food. Not overly friendly staff though. Today I went in and ordered a ham, egg, and cheese biscuit and some coffee and when the waitress brought it out the cook had put a hot, fresh cooked egg and ham on a COLD and what felt like DAY OLD biscuit! When I finally got the attention of a waitress I let her know and told her she seemed bothered but said she would have them bring another. She did not return but another waitress brought me a hot biscuit that they had damn MELTED in the MICROWAVE and I told her I was sorry but I could eat cold leftovers at home. It had taken a while so I went to check on my dog who was outside in my truck with the windows down and when I came back the first waitress was over by my table talking to the cook who had his back to me and was giving the 'shove it up your ass' sign with his fist toward the parking lot. I choose to vote with my hard earned dollar and will NOT be eating there again. What ever happened to customer service or taking pride in your work? BTW... I still did the right thing and left them a five dollar tip. My...
