Mecatos Bakery & Café — Restaurant in Orlando

We stumbled upon Mecatos when we were hungry one day and wanted something different. We also always do our best to support local over big chains, so we decided to give this place a try. We were so pleasantly surprised with the experience from beginning to end - the staff asks several questions, really listens, and cares about how you want the food made, you can tell it is important to them. They were very friendly and accommodating, happy to make sure they got you precisely what you wanted and that was with a line (bonus points, in my opinion). When it comes to the coffee, they have some of the best and strongest Columbian coffee in town. Their food is equally as amazing, I had a fluffy croissant breakfast sandwich and my fiancé got the Nutella and guava pandebonos. The food was so good, my fiancé doesn't want to eat breakfast anywhere else lol, but I told her we will find other great places and still go back to Mecatos. We tried one other place so far and while I won't write them a negative review, I will say that we should have just gone to Mecatos lol.

I have frequented this location and overall have had a stellar experience until today. I came in to order two large black coffees to go. Should be simple enough. I firstly experienced others being fully served and waited on who came in behind me. Then when I was served the team member continued to talk and joke others which distracted her from what was happening with pouring my order. She then comes over and states that I may have to just get espresso because grounds got into the coffee. I informed her that I am not okay with espresso and need the black coffee. Instead of giving me a time it would take to clean the calf and rebrew she proceeds to get a different cup and pour the coffee into it with more from the calf she informed had grounds. I hoped to give her the benefit of the doubt and left. However, upon ariving home I found my coffee full of grounds. I know this is a simple matter, however I was very disappointed with the lack of professionalism and simple customer service. Again this is the only bad experience I have had at this location but I pray it is not...

Got the “columbian burger combo” $16.95. It’s a columbian themed cafe so this should be their best dish. The one that represents Columbia the best. I waited 22 minutes for this thing. It wasn’t FOH fault they were cleaning tables the moment people got up, place was spotless. They ran 2 orders before mine, both salads. I was watching the kitchen at min 22 “DING” the burger was in the window and the meal ran immediately to my table. The crinkle cut frozen ore-ide style fries were not hot with zero seasoning. Does Columbia not season potatoes? Obviously these were finished first and just sat out 15min before the burger was done. Or worse. Inedible. The burger was a sticky mess that was like a gummy overdone from-frozen puck. The kind you get 20 frozen in a box cheap for BBQ parties. Zero pineapple taste in the sauce. Just a sugary confusing mess. And some kinda stale dust sprinkled on it that had no flavor. $16.95 is a beautiful steak at some restaurants. Take this embarrassment to Columbia off the menu. 22 minutes for this in a dead...
