I ended up here on a whim. I was intending to go somewhere else within the same plaza, but seeing this establishment captured my interest, and the stellar reviews ultimately lured me in; however, I was ultimately disappointed, not with the food, but with the customer service. I playfully told the host what I initially expressed here, with a smile, and after I was sat she never subsequently told the respective server she had a new guest (me). After waiting as patiently as I could, for ten minutes, and having made eye contact with, unbeknownst to me, my server, and not being greeted then, prior to manually inquiring if and when someone was going to greet me, I was placing my order. I expressed to her it was my first time there and I asked if I could substitute ingredients in the Thai Curry Ramen dish, specifically hard boiled egg halves for both mushrooms and bamboo, respectively, to which she said, without any ambiguity, but full confidence, yes, you can make such substitutions for no additional charge. So, ok, cool, I thought to myself, "just focus on why you're here, Bert, just be excited about the food, and disregard this uncomfortability, such is life." It was what ultimately happened that compelled me to justifiably write this relatively negative review, which I otherwise wouldn't be interested in doing, it's not my style: When, and there is no need to name my server, she brought my food out I also playfully asked her questions about the interesting seasoning and spice condiments on the table and then once that was quickly addressed she told me that she was wrong, the chef had said I would need to be charged $2.00 for effectively one hard boiled egg (two hard boiled egg halves; the aforementioned free substitutions). She casually asked me if I wanted to have my food taken back. It was very uncomfortable for me. As a first-time visiting consumer, or consumer in general, I did what I was supposed to do: I politely asked questions to be educated on expectations. I didn't want my food to be handled more than what should otherwise be once, from kitchen to table, I don't think that is an unreasonable desire. Additionally, it's just an unpleasant experience to be indirectly asked, "do you want to pay $2.00 for one hard boiled egg, or do we need to take your food back and effectively render a culinary demotion?" Ultimately, don't hold the consumer accountable for having been given entirely inaccurate information, it's about establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with consumers, not alienating them. If you make a mistake, truly own it by eating the cost, not passing the literal buck off to the people who keep you...
Read moreWell my husband and I just left what I would say is one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had for lunch in quite some time. We walked in, and there was a middle-aged woman who somewhat seemed like she knew what was going on, and a young kid who she was training, and what clearly look like his first time ever stepping foot inside of a restaurant. Needless to say, we ordered our drinks which was rather fast and then waited about 15 minutes to even order while the kid seated several tables and walked around aimlessly and clueless, trying to figure out what he should be doing. I kept trying to look at the guy and the girl and could not get their attention asking if we could simply place our order and then watch them sit two or three more tables, of which one of them ordered and got their food before we even received our one plate as one of our dishes never made it out to the table. The woman says it will be out shortly they just bring it out whenever it’s ready. 10 or 15 minutes later still no food I went over and said just cancel my order we are going to take the check and leave. She says sorry Anna very passing way as if it’s my fault or something clearly you guys messed up after I heard her look at the ticket and then ask for the order and said don’t make it now. They did nothing to try to reconcile the situation or ask if anything was wrong let alone send a manager over. The service was absolutely horrible and the one plate of food that we received was OK nothing special for $25. I would never go back there and I would urge people to tread carefully as clearly customer service, and customer experience is not some thing that this establishment has any focus on. I usually tip very well, but this is one of the instances where I felt like not even a tip is deserved because it was both back of the house in front of the house that did a poor job. Plenty of other places to go in the Orlando area, maybe take a look at some thing else before you stumble upon this care free dump. I would give zero stars if I had the option.
Can’t stress this enough to restaurants take care of your customers and they will probably come back even when you make a mistake but making your customers feel unwelcome and and then uncomfortable is not a place that will ever get repeat business. Thank you for allowing me to spend $40 on lunch to watch my husband eat in front of me truly a great experience!...
Read moreI learned about this place before it opened and was looking forward to trying it out. I went on a Sunday evening and was seated immediately near the bar area. A very friendly host greeted me and provided some great suggestions. Even though ramen was their specialty, I decided to be a bit adventurous and try their classic omurice bowl (15 dollars). I did also order the vegan spicy miso ramen (14 dollars) for my mom to go. Surprisingly, my mom's ramen came first. It was nicely packed and bagged, but wished it came last so it can be piping hot when it got home. My water came a bit later, and another few minutes came my omurice. The omelette on top was sliced tableside and topped with seaweed and demi glaze. It was delicious and went well with the chicken fried rice on the bottom. The dish was flavorful without being overly rich. Even with the generous drizzle of the demi glaze, I was able to eat the whole thing. I was pretty filled, but wanted to try their dessert. So I went with the ube panna cotta (7 dollars). It came with vanilla ice cream topped with fruit loops and popping strawberry pearls. I almost thought the ice cream would have overwhelmed the flavor since the panna cotta was at the bottom, but it complimented quite well. The ube panna cotta was quite light and didn't have much of the ube flavor, so the ice cream and toppings enhanced it. I was presented with the check as well when I got the dessert, and they processed it quickly. Thus after finishing my dessert, I added the tip and headed out.
I really enjoyed my server as he was very friendly and helpful. The owner was very nice as well, and I heard the chef has a Chinese and Japanese background. He started his culinary background at the age of 15. The atmosphere is extremely casual and popular American music can easily be heard. The bar had seats, but was empty of people. Instead, most people are at the tables and booths. There were TV's in the bar area, as well as a projector playing some computer graphic animations and nature videos.
I am so happy to see Oodle near my parents area. It replaced Smashburger and the atmosphere still shows the very casual look. The chef has a great heart in the quality of cooking, and provides authentic Japanese food as well as ramen. I am looking forward to trying the ramen...
