Went by myself to enjoy some lunch (not sure why my receipt incorrectly says 2 guests, maybe that's the minimum for their machine?). I saw that outside the restaurant there was a chalkboard that had a lunch special of two rolls for $12.95
I ordered the spider roll, which only came with 5 small pieces and the shrimp tempura roll which was good but also on the small side. Imagine my surprise when I see that I'm charged nearly $14 for two rolls. Most sushi places have a lunch special of three roles for that price. I've been eating sushi around central Florida for a decade now, and I can confidently tell you that there are many places that offer a better value for what you get.
I also didn't appreciate that as soon as I finish my last bite, the card machine was shoved in my face to pay even though I hadn't asked for a bill yet. It felt like I was being rushed out of there despite being in a fully empty restaurant. You can even see on the receipt the time it took to get my order and the time I paid which was less than 20 minutes.
Overall, nearly $30 for two rolls on "special" and a small hot sake is absolutely insane. Things are way too expensive to be so mid. Would not recommend, especially when Orlando has dozens of sushi places that offer a better value...
Read moreFood was reasonably and the take out service was good. Unfortunately, it did not sit well with me when the cashier asked me if I minded to have my order to go since the owner did not allowed my service dog in the dine-in area. I took the time to educate her, and hopefully she would also tell the owner who unluckily was not in the premises, about the law on regards to service dogs. She sort of apologize and told me she knew but she had been instructed to make that request when patrons show up with their service dogs. They were lucky that I didn’t decide to stay and eat in the establishment because that would have been another story. Needless to say, it was the first and ONLY time I would visit this place. The owners need to verse themselves in the law before a serious complaint is launched for infringing the rights of disabled customers. Mind you that at the time I stopped there, there was nobody else eating in the dine-in area. Service dogs are not pets and are allowed by law to enter any areas or buildings where public is normally allowed. The only time a customer can be asked to retrieve their animal from premises is if they pose a threat to others or the owners cannot control the animal’s behavior, regardless if it is a...
Read moreDelicious sushi yes, authentic Japanese udon and tempura, no. No udon soup on printed menu; they have it on the online menu and when we ordered it they said, hesitantly, “…We can make it.” There’s a reason for that. The udon broth had no flavor. Udon broth is supposed to be made with a special dashi including bonito. Mine was heavily influenced by the garlic sauce they put on the chicken topping. My daughter’s vegetable udon tasted more like maybe miso, she said. Honestly I couldn’t even taste miso in hers.
My husband and son-in-law were happy enough with their teriyaki and tempura bentos although honestly the tempura crunch wasn’t light enough to be authentic. Batter was too heavy. The teriyaki sauce was okay, different from the garlic sauce on my chicken.
Good California Roll. GREAT pricing on the bentos even for dinner! But maybe just get sushi here.
I’m Japanese tho and when I crave udon soup only the real deal will do. So far to get anything near that we have to go to Bento or order Nongshim udon online (that brand won a chef’s taste award in the early 2000s).
Still on the hunt for authentic Japanese udon...
