Valentines Day 2024. This was the first time we visited this Orlando Vicky Bakery. Now this review needs to be read with the understanding that I, my mother and her friend who accompanied us to this Orlando location, are all from Miami. We lived in Miami/Hialeah areas for 20+ years and this review is an honest review. My mother spent over $50 at this Vicky Bakery (we are certainly living in an overinflated time in history where the cost of living is unattainable and many are struggling).
With that said, to spend the amount of money my mom spent around $60 for pastries and for them to all taste horrible is insulting to the Vicky Bakery name, history and legacy. It’s obvious that whomever owns this VB, they had no intention to bring the taste sensation that is the Vicky Bakery of Miami/Hialeah locations in South Florida to Central Florida in Orlando.
This Vicky Bakery doesn’t seem to make their own pastries in house. This Vicky Bakery doesn’t even smell like a bakery. This Vicky Bakery is overpriced. This Vicky Bakery sells pastries that are heavily coated with egg yolk and whatever else makes the outside of the pastry so sweet. It’s not normal or consistent of Vicky Bakery of South Florida locations.
The meat, guava and guava/cheese pastries were all terrible. I literally spit the piece of meat pastry I bit and chewed right into the garbage in my kitchen. The so-called croquetas (croquettes) when bit in seemed half-filled with the ham filling and deflated upon biting into them.
We were all sorely disappointed because we should’ve known better. The decor of the store and boxes the pastries were placed in are modernized and the price of this modernization was retrieved back by the inflated prices of all the pastries.
The pastries we bought are basically trash. They’re inedible and are going straight into the trash. When my mother made that $60 purchase it was from a place of fond memories of South Florida’s great history of tasty Cuban pastries. What we should have done was bought one of each and tasted them at the store prior to the large purchase where we would’ve quickly discovered that this Vicky Bakery is actually no Vicky Bakery at all, but an over priced, modern decorated knock off that high jacked a famous name to pass off subpar baked goods at exorbitant prices to unsuspecting citizens that live in Central Florida and might not know or experienced the tasty pastries of the South Florida Bakery by the same name.
If it was within my power I would have that bakery shut down or have them change their name to something this is not synonymous with greatness.
To invoke a saying of old as it pertains to this Orlando located Vicky Bakery and the poor quality pastries they sale (two words sum it up): For Shame.
If you have not tasted the flavor of Vicky Bakery (South Florida), then this Orlando location will probably not disappoint as with most cuisine here in Central Florida. But for those of us from Miami/Hialeah, most cuisine in Central Florida tends to be subpar (but every once in a while we stumble upon a good place to...
Read moreNormally, before leaving a review, I check other reviews to see if there are more People feeling like me, and to be honest, I wasn’t shocked that there is… it doesn’t matter if the product you are selling it’s good if your employees are not GREAT at customer service, people won’t be back, we are investing in your business and I don’t appreciate when they are not polite at the least…. I know sometimes attendees are not the most polite or go to the best attitude, but in my case, I always treat everybody with kindsness and respect, and I give the customer service that I LOVE to receive. I already have 2 experiences with this bakery and both haven’t been good at all, First, we order a catering to share at my work place, they told me that I should pick it up at 10.30am, I went at 10.40 ish, and my order wasn’t ready after driving 30 min or so to the location, my order wasn’t ready and they got something wrong, when I asked if I need it to wait more time, one of the waitresses gave me this bad look and told me “we are frying your croquetas, you HAVE to wait other wise the croquetas are going to be raw” -makes sense- waited extra 10 min, asked again… she was bothered… then checking the order we notice that something was wrong so I had to wait 10 more minutes to get My order right this time, the consequence? (30min driving, 30 min waiting, 30 min driving again) I arrived really late at my job site, but if as a company, you give a customer a time to pick up. ITS THAT TIME ONLY, no more, show some respect to peoples time.
The second one I place the order thru door dash, I wasn’t in the mood for poor customer service, I order an omelet with bacon and it should bring two slices of bread, omelet arrived, did not taste good, they forgot the bacon and the bread…
Improve logistic, organization and hire people who actually like to socialize...
Read moreSo let me start off by saying that I grew up one block from the ORIGINAL Vickys Bakery off 49th St in Hialeah. When I say that Vickie’s was a family staple for us I mean we went there 2-2 times a week to wait in line for 30+minutes just for cuban bread.
Thats is why I am BEYOND disappointed. When I heard this was opening you can imagine I was elated and I just paid almost $80 for a large order of a little of everything.
The Cuban Bread was the a super disappointing item! It was STALEEEEEEEEE. Like it had been sitting there for over a week type stale. This I such a shame since this is what made Vicky’s a thing.
The main number one thing I had gone for was the croissant sandwich which has always been my favorite because of the glaze they put on it HAD NO GLAZE!!!! I was crushed! Honestly, so freaking sad about this one.
We also ordered Cronuts, I ordered the plain one and somehow was given the chocolate ones and they were STALE AF as well.
Annnnnd last but not least, I ordered a Flan Cheesecake, that was supposed to be a small size cake for $13.95 and I was just given a slice! If you didn’t have the items I ordered you should have called to let me know and replace them or you should have refunded the money.
I drove 39 minutes both ways and spent $78 dollars and I am just so freaking sad.
I NEVER thought I would say this, but don’t...
