We stopped here on a late Monday morning at the end of June. It was fairly quiet with just a few other customers while we were there. I was excited to try the place after seeing so many great reviews.
First, I will not that the customer service was polite, but not warm or friendly. We ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and a muffin and I initially opted to wait inside for my order. The employees rather abruptly asked me to go outside so as not to crowd the small space inside. I did as they asked, but the staff member who later came out with our items seemed annoyed. I was very confused by all of this.
As far as the food goes, it was okay. The blueberry muffin was fine. Our breakfast sandwiches were good, but I felt they were on the pricier side for an item that was pretty much the same as it would be anywhere else.
If you are in the area and curious to see what the excitement is about, you might stop by. I just wouldn't go...
Read moreTerrible sandwiches. We ordered two different types - two of the turkey sandwiches and one of the apple Brie ones. The sourdough bread it came with was stale, dry, and practically inedible. They also failed to put the cheddar cheese and the mayonnaise on BOTH the turkey sandwiches!! They listed it came with cheddar cheese but there was none. And it was so dry without mayonnaise and with the stale bread it was really not good. The Brie apple one had a terrible sauce on it that threw off the entire flavor of the sandwich and again with tough, stale, tasteless bread.
In addition, when we came in practically every bakery item was sold out. It was still an hour to closing. I get that things sell out but to have everything gone and still be open for an hour speaks to a lack of preparation. It seems as if they should close earlier or make more so they have SOME items at least when customers come in...
Read moreI am not sure why people think the Cottage Street Bakery is so great. The desserts and sweets are better at the Chocolate Sparrow. The sandwiches are better at Jo Mama. In fact the bread at Cottage Street is pretty dry and unremarkable. But in the past the soup has been good so I did stop today to get soup to go. I got two kinds and when I got home I discovered one container of soup was literally frozen solid. So clearly this was not fresh soup made that day, which would not have been the end of the world if I had at least been told that the choice I made was not fresh but frozen. Cottage Street Bakery is cute but if you want good food, try the places I...
