I stayed here Wed-Fri, June 20-22, which happened to be the hottest days of the summer thus far, in the 90's. I used my choice points, which was 12,000/night, which was a deal. Compared to past hotels I've stayed at thru Choice Privledges, this was one of the better ones. I originally booked a room with a King bed, later to find that 2 others were going to join me, the Owner was able to switch me into a room with 2 beds, no problem. The pool was large and clean, I would lie out in the morning before the beach and there was someone wiping down the chairs every morning, both chairs and chaise lounges. The rooms had an AC, fridge, and standard linens... Everything here is what I would expect for the hotel, somewhat dated and not the best quality, but then again, you're not booking a room at the Ritz Carlton, and you know that going into it. But everything is clean and just what you need when you're going to be spending the majority of your time at the beach. It's close to all the beaches. There are various tables and chairs located outside rooms, as well as in the grass in the lawn, I spent one evening hanging out in the lawn at the wicker tables, we had some music on, brought our drinks down, and it was so relaxing, no one bothered us. There is a Stop and Shop practically next door, as well as various restaurants. I do NOT recommend The Lobster Claw which is next door to the hotel, and this hotel like every other hotel in the Choice Privledges chain, does not offer conditioner, why? I do not know, so bring your own if you plan on using their shampoo and soaps, etc. Also the day that we were leaving, we left one of our vehicles there in their parking area to carpool to the beach, to get it in the evening, alot of hotels, especially in touristy areas, won't let you use their parking once you check out, but I asked the Owner, and they said no problem whatsoever, so that saved another $15 bucks we would have had to pay to park it at the beach. Overall,...
Read moreWent to Cape Cod for respite after losing my husband. Some time alone to check in with myself and mourn, meditate and grieve. None of that happened.
The first morning someone was blowing leaves at 8:30. Big noisy machines should not be allowed until after 10am. After all most people stay at hotels for vacation.
The second day work began on the fencing around the pool. The jackhammer and yelling workers was not conducive to Rest and Relaxation. The work went on until almost 6pm
I left the hotel several times just to hear myself think.
When I checked out I made my complaint but was pretty much told, oh well. Too bad.
I understand this is off season for the Cape and a lot of work gets done then but I wasn’t told there’d be work being done. That would have allowed me to find another place to stay.
Upon check-in, the woman working was kind and pleasant.
Upon check-out the man was rude and mean.
I asked for some sort of discount on my very noisy two days there but the man laughed and said no, oh well. I certainly hope he wasn’t taking advantage of a senior woman traveling alone. I believe if my husband were here we would have gotten some kind of discount or credit but all I got was a discourteous mean man. I started to cry then and left sobbing. Not only for the mistreatment I endured but also for another type of loss of my spouse.
Not only will I not stay at a Rodeway Hotel, certainly not the one in Orleans, Cape Cod, Mass. but I will tell everyone I can about the unrestful respite. And the rudeness of the man at the desk at check-out. I left that...
Although room was clean and had all amenities, there was a lack of professionalism and 'corner-cutting' reflecting everywhere, right from the front-desk to how our wash-basin drain issue was looked into (we finally changed the room..).
TV was branded but remote control was some cheap piece which had only a few basic buttons/functions and not working properly.
It seems bathrooms in this hotel don't have exhaust (at least ours did not seem to). We had to really open the little window for fresh air (cannot believe it..)
We were told by the front desk at checkout time that normally they charge $10 extra for each additional person in the room and they were doing us a favor by not charging us $20 for 2 kids. This was unprofessional and careless style and also a bit offending as we had already included all our family members while making the reservations on ChoiceHotels website and had paid the price that showed on the website. There was no change to number of family members after that. Front desk lady had all the right information in front of her and the print out that she had asked us to sign also had the right number of members (there were no additional people). On pointing this out, she just avoided the further conversation (without admitting or apologizing, sad!).
Overall, Economy is not worthwhile without good quality. Also, I realized that this hotel does not provide breakfast now, which makes "economy" factor...
