We've been doing carryout from here this winter and have been pretty satisfied. Felt like the taste of the food has improved over what it was several years back when we stopped going there. We decided to dine in recently The wait staff couldn't be nicer or more attentive. Really pleasant and thoughtful. Unfortunately the food didn't fare as well. My husband had the hot and sour soup. I tasted it and thought it had good flavor but could have been served a little hotter. The shrimp toast I ordered was plentiful but very greasy. Hoping my air fryer will help that when I warm up the rest at home. We shared an order each of the Gung Bo Gai Din (extra spicy) and Pork Fried Rice. Though the flavor was good, the chicken inl the Gung Bo Gai Din was dry and tough. I actually pushed it to the side and just ate the vegetables. The fried rice was fine.
The atmosphere is not bad. Plenty of natural light coming in the large windows that provide a decent view of the cove. But be advised, the acoustics in the main dining room are not conducive for having a quiet dinner conversation when other tables are occupied with groups or big voices. The sound becomes too loud to chat with your dinner companion across the table. We were there early enough that by the time the larger tables began to be occupied we were nearly done with our meal. I will say, they have plenty of room for families and friends to gather in that room. If we went back I'd ask to be seated in the area before you get to the larger room. Maybe it would be less noisy as it's more enclosed. We plan to continue to do carryout of the selections we've enjoyed so far: Hon Yin Sue Gai, Hon Sue Yoke, Vegetable Lo Mein and Mixed Chinese Vegetable.
6/19/23 Lunch was very good today. I had the crispy won ton soup. My husband had the Chicago style chow mein. Both were seasoned well The only thing we added was a splash of soy sauce and a little hot chili oil because we like spicy. We'd order both dishes again.
12/25/23 First time we came for Christmas dinner with friends. My Mai Tai was good, not too fruity as some are, and the food recommendations from the servers was solid and appreciated. So much to choose from. The House Fried Rice was very fresh tasting and the Beef Chow Fun had very good beefy flavor with tender slices of beef and wide noodles. Plenty of leftovers for the next day. Our friends started off with a flaming drink..a Scorpian Bowl for two that is served with flaming rum in the center which was fun. We all shared a PuuPuu platter of appetizers. My choice on that are the eggrolls and fried shrimp. I could skip the sliced pork. Not so much flavor. Our friends entree choices were also flaming: Polynesian Chicken and Flaming Duck. Flaming cherry sauce is ladeled over top of each. A dramatic, celebratory touch. We tasted both and they were good. Especially like the duck.
Maybe this will become our tradition. Considering the full house when we arrived for our reservations (reccomend) at 4:00p.m. a lot of people have made Christmas dinner at Double Dragon a tradition.
The serving staff here are the friendliest. Always smiling. Happy to welcome us.
4/10/24 Came with my friend for lunch. We started with Mai Tai's. So good. Not too fruity and a proper pour of rum. My favorite cocktail at DD. My friend ordered her usual appetizer plate that has wings and pork etc She loves it. I order the chicken momos. They aren't on the menu but there is a sign next to the hostess desk. I love these Nepalese steamed dumplings served with a tomato ginger dipping sauce. Plan ahead if you want to order these. They take 20 -25 minutes to make. I ordered over the phone then the rest of my order when arrived there. The momo's came out in time to be an appetizer while my entrees were being prepared. Big portion so I brought a lot home. They warm well in a steaming bowl of Asian inspired ginger-garlic chicken broth. The rest of my order was carried out to share with my husband for our dinner. Delicious Double Dragon Fried Rice and Hot Beef and Onion. Both yummy. Frienliest...
Read morePlace is absolute disgrace and they should be embarrassed…came in walked up to hostess counter to order a couple to-go cocktails and started coughing and choking from the musty/moldy smell that overwhelms your nose and chest instantaneously. I couldn’t talk properly to the hostess when ordering my drinks because the smell hits you like a train as soon as you walk through the second set of doors. On top of the disgusting smell, I ordered a “Mai Tai” and a “Scorpion Bowl For 2” which came up to $41.50 which in my opinion is way over priced considering the small size of the drinks and (honestly not even sure if what they put in the cocktails were the correct ingredients and they almost tasted similar to the way the place smelt) I ended up pouring them all down the toilet. Also if they want to charge that much at the very least have a pleasant atmosphere that’s doesn’t make your patrons want to get tested after coming in and scared they’re bringing home bed bugs. Bar area was grimey with low ceilings, poor lighting and the floor tiles were covered in filth. As you continue through the rest of the inside doesn’t get any better which is sad considering this is were the majority of their customers are seated and eating. All of the ceilings and walls were covered with cob webs, the rug looks like it was installed in the 70’s and probably hasn’t been cleaned since the day it was put in, and over a dozen of the ceiling tiles had water stains (probably explains the mold smell). I’ve never left a review on a restaurant in my life but after experiencing the Double Dragon…I felt obligated to leave a review for this place because people need to be warned about coming to this place let alone thinking about coming to this place. Your robbed for less than subpar tasting drinks, your nose is annihilated with and overbearing stench and if you’re anything like me you’ll be coughing like crazy because you can’t even get a single clean breath of oxygen. Wish google had a “custom star rating” because if it did I would most definitely give this embarrassment of a “restaurant” a negative rating. Owners if you read this you should seriously consider putting some money back into this place. Get the rugs ripped out, update and remodel this inside, and use better ingredients if you want to charge the prices you do. You’re batting way out of your league and to be honest the town should consider condemning this place and taking a wreaking ball to it cause even that would be an upgrade to its current state. Needless to say I will never be coming back to...
Read moreLast night, my family and I had an extremely unpleasant experience at this restaurant. We arrived with the hope of enjoying a good meal together, but from the beginning, things didn't go as expected. Since I'm allergic to seafood, I asked the waiter for options without them and followed his recommendation. However, after a wait of more than 15 minutes, what arrived at the table was a cold wonton soup with wontons that had a dry crust, clearly prepared long before being served.
The worst part came when I pointed out the error to the waiter regarding the main dish he had recommended. It turned out that this dish contained shrimp, which put my health at serious risk due to my allergy. Instead of apologizing and correcting the mistake, the waiter became violent and used vulgar and offensive language, insulting my family in front of other diners. This unacceptable and humiliating attitude completely ruined our experience at the restaurant.
Finally, I asked to speak to the manager in search of a proper resolution, but all we received was a superficial apology and no further action. This experience left us with a bitter taste and a negative perception of the customer service at this restaurant. We cannot recommend it to anyone based on...
