We visited Jeffrey's on Thursday evening last week, on our first night in town. It offered up a oddly contradictory good/bad dining experience for us. I considered walking out of Jeffrey's within the first 10 minutes of being there, but, overall, I am glad we stayed to eat. We got off to a very rocky start within seconds of walking through the front door (we came in at 4:35 to have cocktails before the dining room opened at 5:00) when the hostess (a slim, middle-age woman with short dark hair) walked into where we were standing in the entryway, I greeted her and said we were headed to the lounge before dinner.....whereupon she cut me off abruptly to say she couldn't understand what I was saying (I was wearing a mask), and proceeded to walk to the hostess station, sit down, and occupy herself with paperwork on the desk. No eye contact, no followup, no "Pardon me, I couldn't quite hear what you were saying...' just an awkward pause as she busied herself as we stood there waiting. Her demeanor was so bizarre, we weren't quite sure what to think. My intrepid husband stepped in and managed to engage her enough to get a dinner pager before we headed to the lounge area. At this point, I was wanting to bail and try Bentley's, but my husband convinced me to try a cocktail first before deciding whether to stay or go. Thankfully, the bartender turned out to be as charming and engaging as the hostess was not and, best of all, she mixed an excellent Old-Fashioned and Manhattan. When our pager indicated our table was ready, we took our drinks and headed back into the waiting area - where the hostess now behaved as if she was in charge of evacuating a sinking ship - bolting into the dining room ahead of us, placing the menus on our table and then barreling back to her desk, passing us while we were still walking toward our table. It's a small thing, but this is the kind of behavior you'd expect at a busy diner, not a high-end restaurant which, at that point, literally had only four customers in the building - my husband, me and another couple. But fortunately our server, Amanda, was so sweet, calm, and professional, we transitioned into what turned out to be a relaxing and enjoyable meal. We tried the deep fried Calamari, which was excellent - it had a thin, crispy coating without being greasy or heavy. We then shared a cup of the fabulous Lobster Bisque. We especially liked how Jeffrey's serves condiments with their salads, with separate ramekins of croutons and rough pepper, as well as little pots of their three homemade salad dressings. Best of all, our steaks were tender enough to cut with a fork. Jeffrey's is an elegant place and a knock-out visually, with a lovely meadow behind it which rolls right up to the steps of the stone patio with its large pieces of whirligig sculptures. The positive aspects of Jeffrey's - the food, cocktails and waitstaff - were so good that I probablywould return again, despite the peculiar behavior of the hostess (one last but telling incident - as we were leaving, she was leaning against a wall, deep into a conversation with someone - no sign of acknowledgment as we walked by on our way out. However, another employee, who saw that we were leaving, rushed over to thank us and was very gracious...we appreciated her courtesy of not letting us leave without someone saying thank you for coming). Except for the hostess, all the staff members we encountered were pleasant, including the busboy taking care of our table - so personable and poised for someone so young - I couldn't help but speculate how much better our dining experience at Jeffrey's would've been with someone with his cordiality and natural people skills up front to greet & seat customers.

Wow! So much I want to say about this sparkling gem in the Ozarks. We had no knowledge of this restaurant beforehand. Staying at the nearby Margaritaville resort, we just drove by and saw the sign. We noticed the inviting exterior and planned to give it a try. I looked at their website and called for a reservation. They're only open Wed thru Sat for dinner. I now know it was one of the owners I spoke to who told me they weren't taking reservations, it was first serve only. I was a bit nervous when we arrived to a full parking lot, but had no other plans, so we went on in. We were greeted by the voice on the phone with a big smile. Mary assured us the wait was only about 30 minutes. Turned out to be exactly that. Boy was it worth the wait! You must check out my pics to see the evidence. Salad was served family style. Nice and fresh and you should try their house dressing. It's a pleasant creamy oil and vinegar mix. They bring a service of all three dressings to try. Though I didn't try the honey mustard. Was too taken with the house dressing. I noticed they feature lobster on the menu and it's all served battered and fried. I'd never had lobster that way. But I saw lots of servings hustled out while we were there. We didn't try any but will certainly do so next visit. The prime rib was excellent. Incredible touch - they serve it with Yorshire Pudding. So delicious and such a proper pairing with beef. They bring a pot of au jus to the table and will slather as much as you like on your meat. The creamy style horseradish was the best I'd ever had - and with a fresh sprig of rosemary in it... so many fine touches here to be noticed and appreciated. Like the 'loaded' baked tater I ordered. Usually, that means a tater on your plate with all the fixings sitting on top. Here? They bring your spud, the server cuts and spreads it right there at the table for you. And they bring all the fixings in little dishes so you can fix up the spud just like you want it. Plenty of all the toppings you could want. Everything was perfectly prepared and promptly gobbled down. If you've read my other reviews, KC's famous Hereford House is my gold standard for steak and prime rib. This place far exceeds HH. Not an exaggeration. I attribute it to Jeffrey and Mary actually running things and seeing to all the details. Extremely friendly and rightfully proud of their restaurant. Everyone seemed to be. Service was excellent. Try the creme brulee for dessert. They caramelize it for you at the table. Like I said so many fine touches here that make it such an enjoyable fine dining experience. You want another one? They have mouthwash dispensers in the bathrooms. Mouthwash dispensers. Fantastic place.

Absolutely top notch in every way! Staff is second to none from exquisite service to pristine attire, professional in every way. Dishes are promptly removed from the table after each course, table wiped down and all new silverware replaced. The staffs attire is classic and classy with black slacks, pressed white button down shirts with red ties and starched black aprons or vests. The atmosphere is stunning! Gorgeous decor, romantic and cozy, now decorated beautifully for the holidays with impeccable style! Candle lit tables along walls of picture windows offer lovely views. We had an amazing view overlooking the holiday decorated patio with firepit as the sun set over open Fields beyond ..the perfect spot for watching wildlife, so much so, they offer complimentary deer watching binoculars! And we did see deer. The salad service arrives in a large dish to serve yourself, with three house made dressings, a dish of butter croutons and a dish of fresh cracked pepper. The entree is delivered on a cart where steaks are still sizzling on a grill and plated at the table and served with au jus, a horseradish cream and Yorkshire pudding. Let's talk Lobster..... I have never heard of such a thing as batter fried Lobster! Sounds crazy! HOWEVER, the "petite lobster" was honestly the biggest lobster I have ever eaten! prior to the dinner service, the server brings warmers full of butter to the table. the huge lobster arrives, sweet and succulent in a golden crust of the lightest, most delicate batter. The only way to describe it is perhaps if you could merge a tempura with a funnel cake as it takes on a slight sweetness from the lobster. Honestly the best thing I've ever put in my mouth! It's "Slap Yo Momma" good and I'm now convinced that everyone else has been preparing lobster all wrong! we finished our meal with an espresso and cappuccino along with a tableside torched Creme Brulee. I fully give Jeffrey's 5 STARS across the board in every category! Visit Jeffrey's Prime Rib & Lobster...you'll thank me for it!
