So I drive OTR, and I had a stop done in Osage Beach. I noticed a Cafe heading in and decided to stop in before I was done with my delivery. That little gem of a cafe was THE PAINT BOX CAFE. When I walked in it was a cozy, laid-back place. I talked to Shae(the owner) and another cool young lady, and they were very pleasant. I ordered the Jordan sandwich, cookies, and a slice of some type of raspberry pie. The pie and cookies were super fresh and delicious. My sandwich was flavorful and tasty. The avocado sauce that came with it was absolutely delicious. Now, I will say, the bread it came on was a bit much. So it took away from your focus on how good the sandwich really is. I think half of the recipe for the bread for the sandwich would be plenty. The bread itself was SUPER FRESH and soft itself, which gave me AN AWESOME IDEA! Why not add another item to the menu(biscuits and gravy) for a breakfast item! Come up with an awesome recipe for the sausage gravy and add the thick, soft bread with it! I promise you, it would be a hit! In closing, this was a pretty cool cafe to stop and get something to eat. I took some pictures for your enjoyment. Go by and check Shae and her crew out and support your local small business! Tell em BigBen from STL sent...
Read moreIf I could give this place 10 stars I would! We stopped in for a late lunch just before their closing time and were absolutely blown away by the service, the food, and especially the ambiance. The carrot cake alone is reason enough to go out of your way to check this adorable spot out.(And I mean seriously, the best carrot cake we have ever had) This is one of those places you just want to come, sit, and truly enjoy the company of whoever you are with. Even if you are there by yourself, it is such a homey and cozy place that you will probably end up chatting away with your neighbor or even maybe the owner if he is there. You can taste the love that they put into their menu, and I can't recommend...
Read moreWhat a local gem. We visited Memorial Day weekend. This is a fantastic place for a sandwich or salad and we are guessing soups. It was hot so we stayed with sandwiches and salads. This is a true local business. The owner was a one man show taking our order, preparing and serving. He also took a couple of minutes during our visit to chat with us. All of our meals were fantastic. Fresh ingredients all around. Our youngest got a turkey and cheese sandwich that was served like a Pintrest triumph. We had other plans for dessert later in the day so we skipped the cookies. I kind of regret that decision. They looked scrumptious.
