We had called a week in advanced and planned a birthday party here. We arrived 15 minutes early. I called ahead at the beginning of the week to let them know how many and what time. The rude host made our large (including my elderly grandparents who had no place to set due to other guest waiting for an open table) group wait to be seated until 6 o clock on the dot. They said they needed to “set up” which included putting salsa on the table. I would have rather sat at our tables for 15 minutes and waited for salsa… the area was completely clear with no one occupying the area they seated us in. Is what should have happened is when we arrived early the host should have said, you’re early we’ll go ahead and seat you and be with you as soon as possible. Instead he was so extremely rude by basically ignoring us until 6 on the dot. I said we’re here for the birthday party, and his reply was “yeah” and looked and me as though I was ignorant for arriving a little early. They also included a gratuity which is expected but never mentioned it when I called a week in advance. The waiters attitude matched that of the host. The food is dated. They haven’t changed their menu in 30 years. The food used for to be fantastic but they’re living in the 2000’s still. I used to brag to friends that they had the best chicken chimichanga. We love Mexican food and are loyal to good restaurants. We will never come here again. Only bonus point they get is that they sang by daughter happy birthday, and the only time the waiter was pleasant was during a kind moment he had with my fussy toddler who dropped his fork. I didn’t bother calling the restaurant because I read other negative reviews and they just argue with customers that are...

Don’t waste your money here. The salsa they give you with the chips is straight out of a can. No flavor at all. The host looked like he would rather be getting a root canal than working. The server never gave us her name, seemed bothered that we were even there. The food took longer than it should have for the restaurant being as dead as it was. I ordered the nachos “grande” it was an uninspired mess. The guacamole was flavorless and looked like it was out of a container. My cousin ordered Spanish rice it was a Knorr packaged variety. Again tasteless. I understand why the place was so dead. I had heard some good things about this place. Those definitions of good are very different from mine.

I read other reviews about this place. I noticed something, The owner wants to reward good reviews with 10% off their next visit. But argues with and is demeaning to negative reviews. This is interesting to me. Why give a discount to someone who will come back anyhow, and not to someone whose experience wasn’t good. Seems to me as someone who has owned restaurants, that you’d want a second chance to make a better impression. One more thing, perhaps if you spent more time worrying about what’s going on in your restaurant instead of arguing with people online you might not get negative...

SO many haters! Went here last Sunday after shopping. I was starving as I had skipped breakfast. I got a mango margarita. I'm a margarita FREAK! I have had and made many margaritas, was a bartender in Vegas, and this was by FAR the best margarita I have ever had. I would have had 5 if I wasn't driving, lol ;)

I ordered the flautas! Oh my gosh.....they were to die for. I got chicken last time. We are planning a trip back and will get the beef next time. They are like taquitos but with fried flour tortillas with salsa and cheese inside, served with sour cream, lettuce, and pico de gallo. Order the guacamole! The salsa they serve with chips is not very good to be honest. I home make all my mexican food and will never order burritos or enchiladas from somewhere else, I also make homemade salsa. I am from CA and am used to amazing mexican food. Tacos and flautas are my go-to when ordering out. Bottom line, this did not dissapoint. My server was Tyler and I never had to wait for him, he was always there just before I needed him, as a good waiter should be(I was a waitress for a few yrs and am critical of the wait staff). It was clean and staff...

The restaurant has a fairly high capacity, the menu is very basic for a Mexican restaurant, the service was near non-existent, and the food was barely fit for consumption. We ordered a cheese dip appetizer, it was cold when it came out, but the flavor was the best of everything we had this evening. We ordered combo fajitas and paid for extra shrimp which was good because it was the most edible of all the proteins. The steak looked and I'm sure it tasted worse than the canned food I feed my dogs. I wish this could have been a great experience at the Lake, but steer clear of this one unless you're looking to just drink your margaritas away.

Vista Grande will be celebrating their 40th anniversary (I think) June 7 and 8. We first visited 35 years ago and still a great place! Really good to see they have kept the place up and fresh. Clean tables clean bathrooms and good food. My wife had the seafood tacos and said they were delicious. I was hungry and ordered a combo platter that had a tamale. I'm a tamale fan and honestly wasn't impressed, but the rest of the platter was filling, although it came to the table extremely hot. They were serving some margaritas everyone seemed to be enjoy, I think next time through, we will stop by for a pitcher.

This is my first time writing a review on google, that’s how disappointed I am with this place. I ordered online for pickup, and when I got home and opened my boxes, I was shocked. They gave me the smallest portion of rice I’ve ever seen, the chimichanga was burnt, my husbands $3 side of rice was in a container the size of a ramekin, and the $5 cup of queso was even smaller. They even decided to throw a couple of random black olives and a single piece of pepper on top of his very thin and bare quesadilla. I am shocked that this place was the best rated at the lake. We will never return.
