Sat down at 1:30. Waitress didn't even come to us until 1:40, but we were in a corner so I guess it was understandable. We all got waters and she came back with those pretty quickly. That was the last positive piece that I can say about the place. She took our food order at just about 1:50, just after two other friends joined us. They got a water and a specialty alcoholic drink. 2:20 rolls by and she finally gets the alcoholic drink to our table. 2:30 comes by and we are still waiting. One of us is on a tight schedule, so he gets up and asks what's the hold up. The waitress goes to check on our food and says it's done, it just needs to be prepped. She said it may be 5 or 10 minutes. The one of us on a time crunch asks if he can just get the food right away without the prepping, because he needs to leave. The waitress comes back in 5 minutes with his food. He starts eating and the rest of us continue waiting. 2:45 comes up and he is done with his food. He makes a quick bathroom trip and has to leave, so we'll be covering his Cheese Curd Burger. At 2:55 a different waitress comes to us and asks exactly what we ordered. This tells me that the other waitress lied about how close to done our food was. We still haven't gotten the glass of water for our friend and the rest of us are out of water. That friend asks for her water, and the new waitress goes to get it. The new waitress also said our ticket is literally next in line and it would only be a few minutes until we have our food. When the new waitress comes back with the water, it is visibly cloudy. When she takes a drink of it, it tastes very odd. It may have been lemon water, but it was not very lemon-y, so we were unsure what happened to it. When the original waitress came back to our table, we all asked for a water refill. At 3:00, we finally get our food, and we all get glasses of water. The food looks nice enough, then we start eating. My Tater Tot burger was not juicy at all, and the toppings were very bland. My girlfriend's Guac & Bacon Grilled Cheese had very little Guacamole in it. Her side of potatoes was extremely salty and buttery. Our friends meals were a bland order of Mac and Cheese with grilled BBQ chicken, a Caesar Salad, and an order of cheese curds. The waitress must have misheard when she said Chicken Caesar Salad, because there was no chicken, and the bill did not show chicken. In the end, we ended up having a combined bill of 83$, and we paid with little tip, then left. I don't know if this is atypical service, but I can not in good conscience recommend this place to anybody.
Something must have gone wrong, but we were not informed of it. We saw another couple who arrived, were served, and left in the time that we were there. The patio was full when we arrived, but had thinned out before we left. A different large group who arrived just before us and ordered just before us were waiting a long time, too, but they got their food at 2:45 when they...
Read moreFour of us had dinner there Friday, 9/13/21. Two of us ordered burgers, one of us a wrap and the other fish and chips; also had cheese curds and three beers. It took them approximately 90 mins to bring our food!! And the food was not very good. The bill came to a little over $80.00!! We sat on their patio, which is nice, but the live music made it impossible to have a conversation. We all agreed, Red Robin definitely has much better food and better price.
Owner of Dockside Tavern, Thank you for response, although is was not necessary. I believe you missed my points, let me be clearer. We went to Westward Ho a few weeks ago for dinner on a Friday evening. They had the courtesy to tell us that there would be a 90 minute wait for our food, thereby giving us the choice to wait, or go elsewhere. So you, like Westward Ho, knew you had a problem, leading to long delays in getting food to your customers. Westward Ho just just the respect, and courtesy, to inform their customers at the onset, you did not. Guess you did not want to lose that money.
The point of my comparison to Red Robin, is that the food we had at your restaurant was not good, and we have never had poor food, or poor service at Red Robin. The $80.00 I spent would not have irritated me if the food would have been good; unfortunately I felt I just wasted approximately two hours of my time and $80.00 of my money at your restaurant last Friday evening.
Friday evenings we go out to eat as a family. We have been doing this for quite a few months now, at various restaurants in the Fox Valley. Yours is the only one where we waited approximately 90 minutes to get our food, and then the food was not very good! Westward Ho would have been the same, but they had the courtesy to be honest with us upon our arrival. All the other restaurants are dealing with the same staff problems you are, they are just doing a better job adjusting to the environment then you are; or maybe we just hit bad night at your restaurant.
As I previously stated, your outside patio is nice, and I do enjoy sitting outside and listening to music; but I also expect timely service and good food for my money, not excuses when things are not as they should be, or condescending replies to my review. You patio was packed, so you are having success and that is good for you. Maybe if we had few more drinks while we waited 90 minutes for our food, the food would have tasted better. Of the dozen or so restaurants we have eaten at over the past 3-4 months, yours is in last place. On a positive note, Dockside would be a great place to go to after having a good meal someplace, to have a drink and listen to music on your patio. I hope I have cleared...
Read moreWe visited with the family (2 adults and 4 children) last night. We arrived at about 7pm. There were a handful of tables open outside and more than half open inside. We chose to sit inside but had a hard time finding anyone to help us and couldn't really seat ourselves because all of the open tables were dirty or had a bottle of cleaner and a rag on them. After being seated and our drink and app order taken, it was about 20 min before we received our drinks and another 10 min after that before our appetizers came. We ordered the cheese curds and Bam Bam shrimp. The cheese curds were over cooked, half of the order was empty shells of breading stuck together with melted cheese. The Bam Bam shrimp, despite tasting good, was not breaded, it was cooked shrimp with the sauce on the outside. Our server finally took our order after 35 min of being there. There were a bunch of waitstaff all over the place but it seemed like our server was never anywhere to be found since the only tables I had seen him go to were ours and one other table. About 4 parties had came in after we had our orders taken, were seated and received their food long before we had. My son ordered the Bruchetta chicken pasta which was said to have a cream sauce but instead was about 3/4 of an inch of oil in the bottom of his bowl. 2 of us ordered the fish and chips. The fish was great but the chips were a bit over done. Our youngest ordered off the children's menu, no complaints there and the frisbees were a neat idea to serve their food. My husband ordered the Bam Bam cheese curd burger which looked delicious. After spending an hour and 45 min (a majority of that time was waiting) and over $100 at Dockside, I was ready to go. We've been here before on our travels on the boat and have had ok experiences. This last visit tipped the scales and we will...
