Drop anchor at Oshkosh’s newest flavor port- you won’t be disappointed. My husband and I have been coming to Oshkosh for the better part of the last two years and although we were satisfied (at best) with the food at Ground Round, we were blown away by Anchor and Port. Let me just put in a disclaimer that Ground Round was an okay restaurant for us but it lacked culinary flavor and although Anchor and Port may be new to some guests staying at the hotel, I feel like this is exactly what makes this restaurant stand out from others on the block. When you walk in, you can’t help but be blown away by the upgrade in infrastructure; the whole entire space feels so much bigger, more brighter and more welcoming. My favorite part was that there was a bit of Wisconsin incorporated into the space- it made it feel more homey. The first thing I noticed was the versatility of the seating- there are booths for families but also tables facing the water that is more intimate for two. This place offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and from my own experience, it tastes fresh like it was made on the spot. I can taste a frozen store bought patty from a mile away but you won’t find that here. For lunch my husband and I had the griddle smash burger- I’ve never had a Worcester aioli but if you love Worcester sauce, you’re going to absolutely love this! The juiciness of the burger along with the caramelized onions is unmatched- you can ask to have the caramelized onions removed but trust me you’d be missing out. For dinner we tried the Atlantic salmon and beef stroganoff- I didn’t even get to take a picture of it because we were locked in on the smell as soon it arrived. I’ve had different variations of beef stroganoff but this one just had a flavor that made me savor every bite. Decent size and presentation, it was cooked to perfection. My husband said the Atlantic salmon was really good- the key to a good salmon is not drying it out in the process of cooking and this was definitely not dried out. The balsamic glaze sealed the deal in terms of taste. For my husband who loves his breakfast meal, he loved the omelette. I devoured the bagel and lox and highly recommend it. I asked to have the capers removed but otherwise it was delicious. The only complaint I have about this place is that I wish they served cappuccinos because otherwise I have to go down the street to another establishment. If we had a cappuccino machine on sight, I’d really have no reason to leave the hotel for dining purposes! The staff was really nice, our server Riley was so attentive, kind and just happy being at work. It’s hard to find staff that genuinely enjoys being at work and that makes people feel happy to be there! Thank you Riley for being a great server! Overall highly recommend you check it out for yourself- you won’t regret it!

We visited the A&P during restaurant week with quite high hopes given how much we liked the Ground Round. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed in a few ways. The positives were tha the presentation of the food was nice, and the initial delivery of food was reasonably quick. Sadly that was it. Our soup was cold, main dishes were lukewarm, and the dessert was very slow in coming. The beef tips had rich flavor, but definitely lacked in beef. Too many onion and mushrooms. Tiramisu gave the feeling of store bought. Not anything special. Our server was clearly overwhelmed and they seemed to be missing staff. Our bill even got mixed up with another group! The absolutely poor open concept meant that you can see, and hear, everything from the front door to the tables near the river. It was unbelievably loud and echoey to the point that conversations were nigh impossible. The entire impression is cheap, cold, impersonal, and uninviting. A 180° decline from the prior establishment. Our overall impression of the remodel is a huge swing and a miss. We could not be much more disappointed in the restaurant. Given our experience we will be quite unlikely to try again. Overhearing the neighboring tables describe similar issues plus more with dirty/poorly cleaned and inspected rooms it feels like the entire property took a huge decline in quality from when it was a Best Western Premiere. Buyer beware.

I typically don't like giving bad reviews but my husband and I were disappointed in our recent visit during restaurant week and thought we should share our experience.

We planned to eat dinner here on Friday. Because the restaurant does not open until 4pm, we waited to call for a reservation. Called at 415pm, no answer, 430pm, no answer, and a few times after that with no answer. We decided to stop into the restaurant at 545pm asking for a table of 4, and said it would be an hour wait. We decided the wait was too long for us but we brought up the fact we had been calling to set up a reservation for over an hour and a half with no answer. All we got back was a shrug from the blonde haired lady(which seemed to be a manager), turned around and continued doing whatever she was doing previous to us walking up. No explanation or apology.

This was very off-putting and we are unsure we will be back.

Also, this...
