Nonla Burger is by far one of the best restaurants in west Michigan.
It’s a very simple menu, but there’s plenty of ways to elevate your order. We’ve tried everything on the menu and nothing has disappointed us. We eat there all the time because we see their specials for the day on Facebook or Instagram and can’t resist going to try it. And there’s not a single special that hasn’t been out of this world.
The food is amazing and it’s consistent. Consistent portion, consistent flavors, consistently outstanding specials and consistent quality.
The service is always wonderful too. They’re friendly, they’re timely, they’re knowledgeable, and when you want to make your order your own creation — they’re happy to oblige and don’t make it feel like you’re inconveniencing them by doing so. For example, sometimes my husband wants just a good, simple chicken sandwich. Chicken, mayo, and lettuce. While that’s not on the menu, and they have to modify the order on their system quite a bit, they’re always happy to do so and check with you to make sure you’re getting exactly what you want.
I will add that if you don’t like a lot of onion - order light onion on your burger. You get an entire horizontal chunk of an onion, not just a couple rings. I personally LOVE onion, so give me all the onion, but if you don’t like onion that much just order a little less :) or get it on the side so you can add your own!
Put simply: Specials - amazing. Every single one of them Milkshake of the day - always amazing Burgers - delicious. Perfectly cook, excellent portion, and keeps you coming back for more Chicken Sando - unique, delicious, perfectly cooked every single time Hot chicken Sando - INCREDIBLE, and usually my go-to order. The house made pickles that come on it are outstanding. If you’re on the fence about spice, be cautious. It’s so delicious, but it’s chili based so it’s definitely got a kick. BBQ Chicken Club - get it with grilled chicken, get it with friend chicken, either way it’s delicious. Wings - SO GOOD Brussel sprouts - addictive
I have the biggest folder of Nonla Burger food pics on my phone, and post about them constantly because it’s that good. Don’t walk, RUN to give Nonla Burger a try if you haven’t...
Read moreI think black napkins had utterly ruined my perception of what a good burger is and that sucks because I dont always have time to wait in a line around the block for 40 min. I decided while I was down in the Zoo to try this place id heard about before. I got the #1 meal with the Nonla fries, all ordered through the drive through. I obviously went for the fries first and my first impression was wow, these are well seasoned plus with the sauce and grilled onion they are delicious! But then we got to the raw jalapeño and maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like most people don't want to just crunch on a jalapeño pepper and that was very much the vibe which threw off the goodness we had coming from the nice grilled onion. Of course I could have just taken then off but it led me to wonder why if we're already chopping up and grilling the onion, why aren't we throwing the jalapeño in there with it? Then we had the burger, oh man. It looked great, in and out kind of vibes with a brioche textured bun, melt cheese, and thin patties. But boy did it go wrong. First of all, something, either cheese or burger was SALTY and I like salt, but man was it approaching the line of too much. The cheese for the price you pay for the burger gave off Sysco American Slices when I would expect a nice sliced medium cheddar maybe. And I get meltability but when you pay five guys prices you expect that flavor to add up. And then the burgers, oh my lord help them poor cows who sacrificed. They gave high school cafeteria burgers but even more thin. Now I'm not saying a thin burger is a bad thing, smash burgers exist for a reason. But smashburgers are crispy and havd that crust we all love. These... not even an artificial grill like on the half a pinky finger thin burger. Was this the worst burger I ever had? Absolulty not, but would I come back to get it? Also absolutely not. In a world of expensive burgers, you have to stand out, and this just wasn't the case today. I was hoping for better, left full, but only partially satisfied. Back to...
Read moreCame on opening day. It was crowded as expected but overall, great vibe and cute decor inside! Seating is basically shared, but we decided we'd grab it to-go to circumvent the seating requirements. We ordered two burger combos and the milkshake of the day (vanilla) and waited. We originally sat at a 4 top, but didn't want to get in the way for anyone who was planning to eat in so we went to sit on the chairs by the door, which got a bit confusing because people walking in thought we were in line so we had to keep letting folks know that we were just waiting.
We waited for about 30 minutes, finished the milkshake (the vanilla milkshake was pretty good- nothing special, but a decent milkshake), and noticed that folks who had ordered way after us were getting their orders before us. We asked one of the servers what was going on and she went back to check immediately. Came back out, and confirmed that they did not have our order. We're not sure exactly what happened, it looked like everyone else was getting their orders, but she let us know they had put in an order for us asap.
She came back with our order, apologized for the mix-up, and gave us a gift card as part of apology. We left with our food and agreed that it was a really good burger and a lot of fries!
We'll be back again at some point because the food is good and the service was overall great even with the mistake! We'll be back when hopefully the rush of opening day starts to die down a little bit. Really appreciated how quickly the issue was resolved once we brought it up, but it's unfortunate that they way the orders come out (just someone calling your name) meant it took us that long to finally realize that something must have been wrong.
Will update this and stars based on our next...
