I recently visited in hopes of still loving one of our beloved local restaurants after already being disappointed by the new owners. The restaurant had changed management, and I must say, the experience was underwhelming. While I had always enjoyed the food here, the recent shift has left me questioning whether I’ll be coming back.
First, the most noticeable change is the prices. The burgers, which used to be a reasonable $12, are now a staggering $16. The quality hasn’t improved to match the price hike, which feels like a hard pill to swallow. It seems like the new management is more focused on profits than maintaining the restaurant's previous value-for-money reputation.
What really bothered me, however, were the truffle fries. When I asked the bartender about the side options, he first answered, "I don’t know, aren’t they listed?" He then proceeded to recommend the truffle fries, but never mentioned the $3 upcharge. Are we in Osseo or The North Loop with a $3 upcharge on some fries? I’m not sure if this was an accidental omission on the menu or if it’s another way to squeeze out more money, but either way, it felt disingenuous.
Even more perplexing was when the receipt quoted specific statutes regarding extra taxes and credit card fees, which was not only odd but also off-putting. I understand that fees may need to be followed, but referencing legalities over something as simple as a burger order felt like a forced attempt to justify the changes.
Overall, the combination of higher prices, a questionable menu overhaul, and the odd legal references left a sour taste. I used to enjoy this place, but with these changes, I’m unsure if I’ll return. Hopefully, the management will reconsider its approach, but for now, I won’t be recommending...
Read moreI absolutely loved this place. Good was amazing, high-quality food, fresh and simply just delicious. They have a wide range of food to choose from on their menu , although there are no kids' menu. I would have to say getting a child an adult meal isn't a huge inconvenience, as their food does reheat good , except fried food. I personally would consider the hot ham & cheese sandwich a comfort food. And for me, i noticed they definitely do not hold back on the meat on their dishes with meat. The service was very good. The server I had was very nice and not too slow or fast. The atmosphere was very good. I mean, it was like a typical bar and grill, but it has its unique features. I also Apriciated how clean the bathrooms were. They also have some Arcade style games and pull tabs. And for parking, they have a Free Back Lot and free street parking Although it can be somewhat hard to find parking if they are busy. they accept cash & and cards. I don't know about any other forms of payment. I personally don't know how handicap Friendly they are. They have some pretty good appetizers. For seating, they have Booths , Tables , hightables, and bar, and in the summer, they have outdoor seating. I have been here a few times, and every time, it has been a great experience, and I can't wait to go back. They do not have a party room. This has got to be my favorite Bar &...
Read moreMet my son, and a few friends at Dicks. We had a few beers and then ordered. I ordered their patty melt, and french fries. Price was $13.95. I thought this Price was a little higher then most places. I asked the waitress if I could get onion rings instead of fries. She said there would be an upgrade in Price from fries to onion rings. I have done this in many restaurants. I figured it would have been a dollar or two extra and that would be fine. I got about 11 small onion rings. They were good. The patty melt was good, but every time I put my sandwich down I had my fingers full of grease. I went through two large napkins. I got my bill, it was $24,79 including a 12 oz of beer. Patty melt $13,95, onion rings $4.95. For this price I could have had a full size meal at a quality restaurant. The waitress should have told me that you would be ordering another side for $4.95. I paid in cash, because they add 3.9% on your bill if you a credit card, or debit card. I have been to Dicks a couple of times, but they are not going to rip me off again. I will not go...
