Waitress passive aggressively confronted my boyfriend and I over our "no tip".
For reference, my boyfriend and I have been coming here for literal years and the service has been pretty bearable up until today which was super disappointing. To begin with, we had this one specific older brunette woman be our server (she's been our server before and she's almost always had a poor attitude, she has never told us her name probably because she's aware of her shitty service.) When our entrees came out l mentioned to her that my order wasn't correct since I asked for a different substitution for the vegetables and she told me in the most passive aggressive manner "Okay you can just eat the steak and I'll bring out your vegetables later" the vegetables on my plate were zucchini which I am allergic to. (Spoiler alert: she never even brought out the correct vegetables). Additionally, my boyfriend's rice option was incorrect and since she barely checked in on us the whole time, my boyfriend got up to look for her and found her sitting in the back just scrolling on her phone. He explained to her that his rice was incorrect since he was given brown rice but ordered fried and she proceeded to raise her voice at him and tell him they didn't serve fried rice (which is a complete lie because we've had it before and it's on the literal menu.) I think she could tell that after this we were pretty annoyed and she started to act overly nice towards the end. When my boyfriend went up to pay (since he was using apple pay) he left no tip on the check since we were going to leave cash on the table but not even two seconds after my boyfriend came back to our table, our server came up to us and very loudly confronted us about him leaving no tip saying what she did to deserve the no tip to which I replied "I was going to leave cash but, okay." After that she just said oh okay have a goodnight and left us alone. My boyfriend ended up speaking to the assistant manager about her behavior and before he even told her who it was she replied with "Oh I know who you're talking about, we've already been having issues with her all day". I just personally think it's ridiculous to keep a server like her on the job with her lack of professionalism and overall bitchy demeanor. I'm also in the service industry, I understand sometimes work can be annoying but I would never treat any customer the way that server always treats us whenever we get her. From her crying while taking our order one time to now her confronting us about a no tip, it's just overall unacceptable behavior. She...
Read moreThis review is based solely on the service of this establishment, not the food because we didn’t stay long enough to find out about the food. My husband and I wanted sushi and stumbled upon this place. Walked in around 8pm on a Friday evening (they closed at 10pm).
There was no wait for a table, however upon arrival, we were never greeted. We stood at what appeared to be a host stand near the bar. After a few minutes, I noticed an employee grab cleaning supplies to clean a table so I again assumed the table was being cleaned for us. This same employee then walked over to the bar and started working so I figured we may not have been noticed so I asked a waitress if there was a host stand that I missed. She was very nice and let us know that someone would be with us soon. She ensured that she let someone know we were waiting for a table.
Shortly after, we were approached by what appeared to be the owner. She walked towards us with menus but then literally looked at me up and down, didn’t say a word and we were told to follow her. After we sat at the table, my husband and I looked at each other in confusion and after I confirmed with him that he was feeling the way I was, we decided to get up and leave.
We felt like we were not welcomed here and refused to spend money in a place like this. When we started walking to the car, I told my husband the icing on the cake for me was when I was looked at the way I was and he let me know he noticed that encounter and I was so happy he noticed because I was hoping that it was not just me that saw what happened. I don’t know what their issue was with us, and I won’t assume, but it was clear that we were not wanted at Sakamoto.
To be clear - We were dressed appropriately (both wore sweaters and jeans) just as almost every other patron there on a cold January night. This restaurant is not fancy, it’s located in a shopping center. Again, not sure of what the issue was, but this experience was so bad, I had to make a negative review which I never do. I will NEVER dine here after...
Read moreMy family of 5 has been eating at this establishment for a couple of years at least 2 times a week. We love the food! What we don't love is the service. You walk in the door and you are greeted by Daisy, someone who never has a smile on her face, is extremely rude, can't take the time to walk you to a table but instead points to the table, is constantly watching and barking orders at the servers and even fights with the servers in front of the customers! That then brings you to the servers, honestly most have been wonderful except the most recent one we've had named Theresa. Last week, while my family was trying to enjoy our dinner, we witnessed Daisy and Theresa having a spat over sweeping the floor. Theresa was visibly and vocally mad. So much so that she even sat down at our table and discussed that no one likes Daisy or working with her and that she's rude to customers and employees, etc. Probably not something we should have witnessed or later heard about as the customers. Today my husband and I came in for lunch. We asked to sit at a table by the window which there was only one left. We were told no b/c they have to keep that one table open in the event that a group of 5 people came in. Keep in mind that it was close to 2pm and no one was waiting in line to be seated or even in the parking lot! We were offered a high top by the door or a table with a bench. Neither option was appealing to us and we said no we'd like to sit at the table we requested. Theresa said no again and added that she didn't want to get yelled at for letting us sit there. We told her that was unacceptable and that we'd find another restaurant for lunch and walked out. I cannot believe how we were treated. Needless to say Peter @ WILD TUNA was happy to serve us. We will not be back to Sakamoto Japanese Grill &...
