Keagan’s Irish Pub — Restaurant in Ottawa

I was employed at Keagan’s Irish Pub starting in mid-June 2025 and experienced serious payroll issues. I was paid late for one of my pay periods (6/15–6/22), receiving that check on July 5, nearly a week after it was due (June 29).

I was then not paid at all for the hours I worked between 6/23 and 6/30, even though that paycheck was due July 7 instead being told its been delayed until this friday (11th).

I was told the business was operating with “minimal staff” and that I was still employed. However, I wasn’t given any schedule or work between July 1–7 under the owner saying they needed to be at "minimal staff", and I was officially let go today (July 8 ) for “performance not up to expectations.”

As of writing this, I’m still waiting on the wages that were due yesterday (July 7).

It’s unprofessional and illegal to delay or withhold employee pay, especially with zero communication. If you're considering working here, be prepared for unreliable pay and poor management.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Keagan’s Irish pub in Ottawa. Firstly the place is comforting and cozy inside, (bonus points for the great music playlist). Next thing is the absolutely fantastic service you’ll receive inside of Keagan’s, they’re polite, welcoming, and are proud to serve you tremendous food! Lastly is the food, the food is always made fresh to order and all the sauces are house made and you can definitely tell. The flavors achieved at Keagan’s are beyond delightful to the taste buds and you won’t be disappointed! I recommend the specials, or the rueben! Anything is viable choice though. Also my waitress, Marikay has been a class act every time, I truly appreciate the effort she puts into making you feel welcome and right at home! Overall 10/10 would recommend...

I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. One waitress saw me come in but ignored me. The second one waited on me after counting drawer. She was nice. Took my order finally. Took 25 min for a plain salad with grilled chicken. It was slow in there. Then the salad was just plain lettuce I thought it was supposed to have greens plus carrots and cucumbers It was all just ice berg lettuce ver few cucumbers or carrot shavings.
