Pizzas by Marchelloni-Ottawa — Restaurant in Ottawa

Went here for lunch. First of all, great service. Small interior for dine in, but still pleasant. Also, nice selection of beverages.

Ordered two lunch combos to try a variety of items:

The Italian beef roll was ok. It was enjoyable, the au jus was good, but overall this one was very mid.

The wings were a letdown. They were fully cooked, but the meat was chewy and stringy, not tender and falling off the bone. The exterior was soft, and I was not a fan of the garlic parm sauce.

The garlic cheese bread really threw me off. I was expecting something like a cheesy pizza that I thought I saw in other photos, not something that I get from the local grocery frozen aisle. Maybe my expectations were wrong, but still not a fan of this one. The sauce was nice though.

Shining star was the pizza. I enjoyed the thick crust, crisp bottom, and was definitely the highlight of the meal.

Edit: the two star review is a reflection of the overall quality of food. I tried to highlight the positives but my rating of two stars for the quality and taste of the food stands at two stars. Definitely not 3-4...

Story time: growing up I lived in Wilmington, IL. This small town had a Pizza by Marchelloni. I grew up on the soft yet crispy crust, sweet sauce, and fresh toppings. Their beef rolls were served at every birthday party, every teenage gathering and every where in between. They were eventually bought out by another pizza business. It wasn’t as good. Now fast forward more years than we need to talk about. I moved to the Ottawa area and opened a small store downtown. One day I was hungry and opened google to see what food was available around me. Could it be? Is that really a Pizza by Marchelloni?? I thought, no way it’s the same. OH IT IS! It’s everything I remember and more! The pizza is warm and fresh. The crust has a beautiful crunch but is soft. Seriously, if you’ve never eaten here you are totally missing out. It’s perfect for a stressless dinner. The prices are fair and the portions of everything are generous. Every delivery person has been friendly. I’d share photos but this review took too long and I already demolished...

Called this place on a Monday night after looking at the reviews and boy was I disappointed… I called to order mozzarella sticks and a large 2 topping pizza.

When I walked in there was a sign that said BOGO Mondays! (Buy One Get One free). I asked the kid at the register why he didn’t mention the BOGO on the phone and he said “I must not have answered the phone.” He didn’t offer the deal after that.. just told me my total and asked how I was paying.

On top of this the pizza was average at best. Both the pizza and mozzarella sticks were cold by the time we got them home (15 minute drive) and undercooked. Toppings were slim. Dough was pretty flavorless.

Disappointed with my experience based on others reviews but whoever was working Monday 7/8/24 doesn’t care about customer service at all. Both the cook and the kid on the register.

Will not be back. Hope you have...
