Tone's Cones — Restaurant in Ottawa

I’ve been coming to this place for YEARS, and when my kids wanted a little treat we always get them the baby cones with a dip and a maraschino cherry, price has been the same forever. The last two times I’ve gone price went up over a dollar. When I questioned it the first time, the cashier had a more seasoned employee explain to him that he’d made a mistake and he wasn’t supposed to charge a sixty cent topping charge PER CHERRY (which is ridiculous). No biggie, mistakes happen. The second time the cashier informed me the charge was right, I’d been getting charged incorrectly for the past 7 years, and my two dipped baby cones came to almost five dollars and that’s what I needed to pay, now. As much as I wanted to give this place a good review I got turned away. They have a busy shack and it seems to do good. Good for them. I’m newer and was giving it a shot. Have an excited 3 yr old waiting on ice cream. They have a long drive thru line so someone takes an order at the window and walks car to car. Good idea. I had to wait 20 mins in line to get to the window. Only to have them tell me the only accept cash. With Covid understandable. But after waiting 20 mins. No idea this was how they ran things, if only they had the girls taking the orders tell people as the come thru walking car to car. It’s turned me away from going back. I called and no manager. No owner. No one in charge to talk to...

Love their ice cream! I really won't go anywhere else here in town, unless they are closed for the winter. But you will definitely find our family there the first day they open! Although the drive thru/parking lot isnt large and sometimes difficult to get too (because the lines get long, alot) it is definitely worth the wait! Inside is small also, not more than about 8-10 can be in there comfortably at a time. They also have oudoor seats with umbrellas. And if you haven't enjoyed a Chicago Hot Dog before now is the time, because they also make great food, right behind Tones Cones in another small building where they sell the Chicago Hot Dogs and more!
