This was literally the worst experience I’ve ever had here or at any other restaurant establishment. The food was delicious like always, but our server, Mary, was absolutely horrible. We had a party of 7. We were greeted and sat right away by Mia who was very friendly. From the moment our server walked up to the table she had a bad attitude and seemed it bothered her that we were there. She seemed rushed and flustered the whole time, but she only had one other table. We put our appetizers in and the kids food in right away. Those came out fairly quickly, but we were practically done with our appetizers by the time she even took our food order. She never lifted one dish or attempted to pre-bus our table. We waited for another 15 minutes after we were done eating before she even asked us about the bill. While we waited for our bill, she argued and screamed at other people in the establishment and on her personal cellphone. I grabbed Mia, and she is the one who came back with our bill right away. I bartend and serve also, so I understand having an off day, but this was all just unacceptable. Her tolerance and annoyance to having a small party, her attitude and unprofessionalism where people are eating trying to enjoy a meal, and just her treatment of her coworkers and other individuals was ridiculous. Next time, we will go to Applebees right across the street, and we try to go here weekly as this is one of our favorite places to eat and it allows my aunt to be brought by the bus from the nursing home to spend some time with her family. If she doesn’t get angry and quit, I’d suggest firing this woman. The manager was not in, so I will be calling her after...

We were excited about this place when we first arrived. We walked in and were seated right away. The atmosphere was good. The menu had plenty to choose from.

But once we started to receive our food and experienced the lack of service, we were not thrilled. The food was mediocre...would have had better bbq at any chain restaurant. The burnt ends were mostly just fat. We ended up spitting out several pieces after chewing into them because of that. One of the sides we ordered was wrong. We couldn't find our waitress and she wasn't coming by to check on us (never even came by to fill our drinks), so we decided to eat around that side dish we didn't want in hopes we could ask for it to be corrected. We never saw her. We finally decided to just try the side we had received by mistake (potatoes) and it wasn't good at all. So at this point we were ready to leave as we still had a long drive ahead of us. We finally flagged down our waitress and got the bill. Then found out they charge an extra 3.5% for using a debit or credit card. I didn't have cash on me, so I wasn't too happy to pay extra especially when no one else requires that. I was ready to leave.

We go through this town often visiting family out of state, but we won't...

I ate here with a group of 7. We should have left the place right off the bat. We ordered our drinks and got all but one of them which took 5 min to get afterwards. Our waitress then asked if we were ready and we replied that we needed a min . 10 min later and having to get someones attention, we ordered. 15 min after ordering our waitress came to us and told us that she couldn't put our order in because the computer was down, but it would only take a min to come back up. We waited and 45 min later we finally started to get our food which took another 15 min. because the waitress was slow to get everything out as if she was very confused. Then one of the orders came out wrong, so while the rest of us finally had our meal, she had to wait another 10 minutes for her food to be cooked in the back and brought out to her. I understand we had somewhat of a bigger group but they were not packed, so service to me was 1 star, and our waitress tried to play it all off like nothing wrong ever happened. At least the food was warm, so that was a plus. The smoked meat was decent, but it was not the best I've had and their hot bbq sauce is sweet so for me, someone that travels around the USA, if you are looking for decent sweet bbq...

The Campfire Burger at Bubba-Qi’s in Ottumwa, Iowa for our Wapello County special! The barnyard unties on this all beef cheeseburger topped with ham and a fired egg. And how about some bread butter pickle slices and homemade potato salad! 21 counties down and 78 to go! #iowa #99specials #burger #letsgo

We had a fun weekend trip to Ottumwa, Iowa, #ad which was filled with so many unexpected surprises. ⬇️ SAVE this for your next trip! 🛟 Must Do: - Garrison Rock Trail: This trail leads to a large open cave. The trail is short with beautiful ferns, mossy rocks, and creek crossings. - Eddyville Sand Dunes: This trail has wetlands and unexpected plants like cacti! - Beach Ottumwa: This water park has big slides, a wave pool, a kids play area, an indoor inflatable obstacle course and more! - American Gothic House: This is the location of Grant Wood’s famous American Gothic painting. There is a small museum with costumes to rent. @americangothichouse - Mini Mushrooms: This play area is great for kids, from toddler through Elementary School ages. My kids had a blast playing and I enjoyed watching and drinking my complimentary coffee. @minimushroomsplay - Old School Arcade: This arcade has pinball, video games, air hockey, ski ball and more. There is also laser tag and other games. - Pioneer Ridge Nature Area: This nature center has an indoor section with animals, trails, a pond, hummingbird garden, disc golf, camping, and more. Must Eat: - Bubba Q’s: This BBQ was seriously good and had a ton of gluten free options for me which I appreciated. @bubbaqsottumwa - Grahams Dairy Freez: This ice cream shop had an old-time feel and seriously good ice cream. I recommend getting the crunch. @grahamsdairy - Joe’s Italian Restaurant: My kids loved the pizza and I loved the pasta! @joes_italian_ottumwa Must Stay: - Cobblestone Inn and Suites: This nice hotel had complimentary breakfast, was centrally located, had a pool, and was clean and friendly. Iowa has so many cool and interesting places to visit! Plan your visit today. #thisisiowa #traveliowa #iowa #ottumwa #meetottumwa #midwest #midwesttravel @traveliowa @meetottumwa ☺️What would you like to do most?⬇️

Ohhhhhhh Myyyyyyyyy. I grew up in the South, sort of........ Central Florida and South Georgia some, then traveled the country and the world. This is my first time in Iowa and we came to this restaurant on a whim while picking up stuff in town. This was the best BBQ I have tasted in my life. There was a review that only have two starts and complained about only 1 choice of sauce. She was close, they have a sweet honey (I think it was), a spicy one, and a ghost pepper sauce. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor of the spicy sauce (all Texas style, no NC style). Vicki was our server and she was absolutely the nicest lady ever (thank you dear for the great service). I will be back already once every visit back. I can't thank the owner enough for all the gluten free options, I was very blessed for that or I wouldn't have been able to eat there.
