First time to Conroy's last night. The place was busy but not packed since we got a table right away. After an hour, we still did not have our food. There were 4 of us - 2 salads, one Chicken Curry and one Salmon order - not a complicated order. After another 20 minutes, one of our party went to the waitress to ask about our food order. Instead of offering us some appetizers (it was nearly 8:00pm by this time) she offered us drinks on the house. We needed food, not alcohol. The food finally appeared with the excuse that the waitress didn't know they were short one person in the kitchen. Funny, since we had been watching other people receiving food that came in after us. In fact, the table behind us had cleared and refilled two times with people who had food served both times. Keep in mind this was our first time and we aren't sure we want to come back even though our friends had been there several times and had never experienced this kind of service. It is not the Waitress' fault in one sense, even though she should have stepped up and let us know what the problem was, and then could have offered some appetizers to help our hunger mode. That was a huge faux pas. Then we saw and heard the manager go to some tables and ask how the food was - totally walking right by us. It has become apparent that the last few times we have been out to eat at establishments, there always seems to be a problem in the kitchen or some kind of nonsense excuse. We are from Louisburg and don't have more than a few choices in our town so we don't eat out often. We hope this changes soon across the...
Read moreOur first visit to this Irish pub. Comfy, inviting atmosphere. Though there were TV's here and there, there was music playing, at an appropriate volume so conversation was easy. Before I forget to mention it, staff were all nice and our server Liam was great!
I had Irish Chicken Curry and chose fries (rice was also an option). The vegetables in it as till had some crunch to them, and it was topped with - raisins! At first I thought it was good but a bit plain, but halfway through the plate I was amazed! I believe I am so used to curries having heat that I was caught off guard. It was an exceptional dish and I'm craving more as I write this.
Wife and fish and chips and she had no complaints. They were served with a very creamy tartar sauce and a bottle of malt vinegar. There was also a condiment-sized side of "smooshed peas," which our server Liam explained (with a bit more detail) are a traditional Irish topping for fish and chips. I thought the cole slaw was exceptional as well.
When we go back, there's a fisherman's puff pastry pie on the menu that piqued my curiosity. Our two entrees came to thirty bucks with tax, no drinks, before tipping. Burgers and sandwiches were a few bucks cheaper, and I believe the special was $25 for a 12oz prime rib.
I don't know why my phone didn't think these pics...
Read moreThey aren’t enforcing social distancing. They have 2 banks of booths that are separated from each other by plexiglass. They also have a set of booths (4 or 5) that don’t have the plexiglass dividers. We were seated at one of those, with empty booths on either side (good!). However after we ordered, they sat people directly next to us in a booth. We moved to a different booth and told the server we were concerned with distancing. We received our food and then about 15 mins later they seated people directly next to us again. We asked for our checks and left quickly.
Based on their lackadaisical attitude regarding distancing (there were tables and other booths available that would have maintained distancing) I don’t trust that they are taking precautions in other areas. Do they perform employee temp checks? Do they wipe down menus, tables and seats? Are the cooks practicing good hygiene? Who knows? What I do know is we will not be back. I’ll be supporting other locally-owned restaurants where I feel more confident that they are adhering to...
