Looks like I’m not the only one who had a bad experience selling books/media at this location. I used to sell books at half price books years ago and never had issues. Brought in several bags and boxes, they went through them in less than 4 minutes. Was told all my records were ruined beyond repair, when I knew for a fact that wasn’t true. I had called ahead and ask if they would buy sealed never opened medical resource books, they said yes, but when I brought them in they told me they were going to throw them away. I didn’t really care about the money, it’s just the fact they weren’t accepting things in good condition that I know people would buy and also they were extremely rude when interacting with me! I even called the manager after because I’ve never had such an experience there, and literally all he said was “sorry you had a bad experience with that employee” while repeatedly deeply sighing from being annoyed with me while I expressed my experience. I really wish I would’ve just taken everything back and brought them to a thrift or goodwill where people could actually use them and not treat me like I was bringing them literal trash or something. Don’t waste your time, effort, or gas money coming here to sell for any reason. You’re better off giving to friends, family, or where ever else people could use them. Clearly the manager doesn’t care that there’s been several complaints about employee interactions and how they buy things from people. Just really bothers me because I used to come to this location all the time. Will not be...
Read morePeople need to be made fully aware of this company's policy on buying books, CDs, and DVDs! I had 3 big bags of CDs and DVDs I had planned to sell. I wasn't expecting to make a lot of money because I knew these places don't pay a lot. But I was shocked by what happened. Understandably, the clerk checked every disc, but then told me that the majority of my discs were scratched! This was a surprise because a lot of the discs had only been played once. The clerk told me there were only a couple the store could use and offered me only 11 dollars. I agreed and signed the receipt. To my surprise, the clerk then refused to give me back any of my items! I thought he was only going to keep the ones he paid for and return the rest. I later talked to the store manager who informed me that even though the store claims to only be able to use a few items and only pays for those items, once you sign the receipt, everything you brought in now becomes the property of the store! He refused to return my items that the store did not pay for! So this company got 3 big bags of CDs and DVDs from me for only 11 dollars!! If this is store policy, people need to be made aware of it up front, so the customer can fairly decide if they wanted to make the deal. Otherwise, this company takes unfair advantage of its clientele. Do...
Read moreI understand these are difficult times for bookstores of all kinds ... or what's left of them. I didn't realize, tho, that things had gotten this bad.
As a widower in recent years, I had lots of my late husband's library to trade in for some needed cash. He was a voracious reader of classics and spirituality, and a collector of big, beautiful books on world photography, travel, architecture, and art.
I recently took three big cloth shopping bags full of his books to Half Price Books, and browsed their excellent selection of CDs while I waited for staff to go through them. They were all in excellent, like-new condition, and would probably have cost a couple of thousand dollars originally.
I ended up getting $36 for them, which I spent on a handful of CDs.
I assure you, this is not meant to be a slam against the store ... just a heads-up, so folks don't get their hopes up when they try to sell their books to...
