It may be best to skip. Service was kind of awful. When we arrived, we were seated in the worst possible table (next to the kitchen and bathroom), despite there being plenty of seating. When we were allowed to move, the original server had an attitude about it. Which I understand, but there shouldn't be a table in that location to begin with.
When we got to our new table, our new server got our drinks—but one of the coffee cups had lipstick still on it. So we got a new cup, and the server asked if we wanted to pour the coffee from the old cup into the new one. I get that lipstick is hard to clean, but really? That's still a health hazard. We also didn't get straws and had to ask a different server.
Okay now to ordering actual food, we ordered the Alamo burritos, and the server asked if we wanted hash browns or diced potatoes. Crazy thing though, it doesn't come with either and we didn't ask for them to begin with—so we got charged for them. He should have asked, "would you like an extra side of hash browns or diced potatoes for just 2.50 each." It's not suggestive selling if you trick the customer into thinking the plate comes with it. We also asked for well-done hash browns, and only one was prepared correctly. When we got the food the server immediately asked if everything "looked okay" which isn't a particularly useful question, because it's substantially more important to come back a couple minutes later to ask if the food "tastes okay." Instead, only a few minutes later, our server came and asked if we'd like boxes. Like, don't rush us—it had only been a few minutes. To add insult to insult to injury, we he kept coming back to ask if we wanted to "wrap this up," all without ever refilling our drinks. Soooo, it was...
Read moreI travel an awful lot and I always enjoy trying a new, fun, unique, and interesting breakfast joint… So, on one of my frequent visits to the Overland park/Leawood area I stopped in here for breakfast.
Getting there about 40 mins after they opened for the day, they were far from busy, and by the time I left, there were many more tables sat. Service was decent at the bar. I ordered a cup of coffee, which comes with a carafe and I chose their Nashville Hote Chicken Biscuit with their home style potatoes done with onions, green peppers, and cheese. I wanted to try their sausage gravy, so I asked for aside of that as well.
The potatoes were the first thing I tried and while the cheese was melted on them, the potatoes were lukewarm. There wasn’t much flavor from the addition of the other items, so I only ate a few and then was done with the side item. Next I tried the chicken biscuit. The crown of the biscuit broke as soon as I touched it with my fork and it was somewhat cool, far from fresh and hot, especially for first thing in the morning. The chicken itself was insanely hot, fresh, and the seasoning on it was incredible! Nice and spicy and very tasty, but beware, the thickness of the chicken is that which seems to have been cut in half, far from thick. The breading for the fry was great too. Next, I tried their sausage gravy and it was really basic, nothing flavorful or thick or seasoned about it. Really boring.
Overall – this place has great potential and maybe it does better on other days, but I gave it a try and since I don’t live in this area, I most definitely wouldn’t return when...
Read moreWe ate there this morning. My father in law arrived about 10:00am, we were maybe 10 mins behind him. He still hadn’t been greeted or had a drink when we arrived. At 10:25, I got up and walked to the server station (within 7 feet of our table- we were right next to it) and asked a man who looked to be a manager if we had a server for our table. He was wearing a blue polo and glasses. I told him we’d been sitting for quite awhile and had yet to be greeted. He didn’t even make eye contact with me, just said we will get someone right over. A couple more mins passed, the booth behind us (who arrived maybe 10 mins after us) was getting their food so we grabbed the attention of one of the THREE servers delivering food to the table. We asked the young man if he knew who our server was, explained what I’d already told the manager, and he was immediately very apologetic. He said he would take our order right now, even though he technically wasn’t supposed to bc it wasn’t his section. He offered to have the manager come by, and I pointed to the polo wearing man and said if that’s him, I’d already alerted him and he still had yet to send a server to us. The entire meal, the manager never once came to talk to us, apologize, ask how our food was. He never bothered to touch our table once, even after we finished our conversation after we paid our tab. The young man who waited on us was attentive and polite, but the management of this establishment is obviously severely lacking any type of structure or...
