Umami Revolving Sushi — Restaurant in Overland Park

This place is a fun concept, but that was where the positives stopped. We had a really mediocre experience. My son and I came for the sushi and my husband ordered a bento box. The sushi we had was ok. I have had comparable sushi from the grocery store. Not bad, but definitely not great. At no time did we see any of the blue plates that are the cheapest. There were lots of yellow mid priced plates with a few of the higher priced purple plates sprinkled in. When we got there, we were able to try most of what we wanted, but very soon after more people came and sat to our right and they kept taking all of the new sushi being put out. My husband's Bento box took forever to come out. It had a tiny piece of clearly previously frozen and warmed tonkatsu pork, some cold and dry rice, a single broccoli spear, two sliced carrots and a couple crab rangoon. We were charged the dinner price of 18 bucks despite us being there at lunch time. The salad that was supposed to be included came out a full 10 minutes later and was served a a huge hunk of lettuce with nothing to cut it. The ginger dressing was not bad. We had high hopes that we were going to have a good sushi place nearby. But sadly, we will have to continue driving elsewhere. If you are not looking for great sushi and the novelty of the place appeals to you, it is worth a glance. But there is far, far better sushi elsewhere with more reasonable prices. Under no circumstance should you order a bento box off of the menu. It was ridiculously overpriced and of questionable quality. We had been excited for this place to open, but...

Their back!!! We loved the sushi train in Olathe and we're sad to see it go, but are excited that the same owners have opened this new place which is a little bit of further drive for us, but still the same quality sushi, same friendly service, that look forward to. We went to the soft opening, and it was busy!!!! They have 45 seats at the at the rotating sushi bar. And several tables, new additions to the menu are boba tea which is always fun!! The calimari is the best I've had anywhere, ever. The selection is ever changing so patience is rewarded and having the choice to try different small plates is so much better than gambling on a whole roll if you're not certain on what you want. The staff is incredible and go out of their way to make what you like. If you frequent them, they remember! The new Boba options are amazing too! A great dessert if you still have room. Definitely our number one...
