8/2020. Happy to say the food and service are again top notch. Did order a 3 out of 10 for spiciness and it was still very spicy, so if you don't like spice, go for a 0 out of 10.
Prior review: Sadly, service has taken a nose dive. Stood around waiting to be seated. Waitress literally came by and dropped off the check just a few minutes after my food was delivered. She asked why I wasn't eating my dinner, told her I ordered the wrong item, completely my fault, she didn't ask if I wanted to order something else... guess what I did and would have paid for it... But they already printed the check, so nothing else for you! Still eating my rice, waiter came by to pick up the bill. Again asked why I didn't eat it, he said I could take it home, explained I don't eat it. His only response, it's a waste. He tried to take my naan, told him I wanted that. As I'm sitting there eating, he asked for my credit card because I hadn't even look at the bill yet. So much for drink refills or even dessert... Would have ordered that too! Not sure if ownership has changed or what, but service NEVER used to be this horrible. You've definitely lost a customer for now and not sure I'll they go back.
Previous review: Usually go in the evening and it's pretty empty, which is sad, though it makes for a nice, quiet meal. The food is always good and the service is excellent. If you don't see it on the menu, just ask, they'll...
Read moreAnother delicious meal tonight, we have never been disappointed. The Nepalese food is our favorite. Be sure to call ahead for dinner.
--Edit update 11/15/13-- New owner new menu...
After several meals in an empty dining room in the past, we were afraid they would go out of business, and they did. Now they have reopened.
The food is still good. The menu is much shorter. Everyone enjoyed their meals anyway.
The spicy hot is offered on a scale of 1 to 10, and it seemed to make everyone happy.
I did not eat the goat, but it seemed to be mostly bones. It was served in a compartmentalized oval stainless steel platter with basmati rice and vegetables.
My fried vegetable balls were served in a delightful sauce, but were neither crunchy nor soft, but somewhat stringy and gooey, and impossible to cut with a fork. Nevertheless, I found them quite good.
The wait staff was attendant to the water glasses, but left too much time after the meal for ordering desert. We were no longer hungry. In fact, the waiter never asked if we wanted desert at all.
The decor is different. There are no longer traditional bright colors. (Not that I would know about triditional Indian anything having never traveled to India.) The formally bright arched entrance which had offered a cheerful message, was somewhat sloppily painted over in thick brown with paint splashing on adjacent trim.
Sorry, I digress. We enjoyed our meal and...
Read moreI love Mt. Everest! Whether it's delivery, take out or dine-in. The only spoiler on dine-in is that the lighting is too bright. The atmosphere otherwise is wonderful and the service impeccable. In 20 years, I've never had a bad meal from Mt. Everest. And they retain staff, too! The lovely man who delivers was so happy to see me again after COVID-19 that he gave me a hug. Mind you, I'm an introverted extrovert and a decent tipper who always wishes I could afford to give more. I try to make up for that in appreciation. But he always remembers. The food is great... every single dish. I've never gone wrong trying something new. The takeout menu is extensive for your friends or family members who don't do Nepalese or Indian. Kids' menu, too. One important point and special kudos to the staff: I have a medical service dog. I did call ahead, but some staff were unsure. They checked with a manager & cleared her (legally have to, of course). Gave us an accommodating table, as requested, and by the time dinner was over, my dog was getting smiles. (Other patrons always do. Staff that has professional concerns may take a minute.) For anyone with a service dog, call ahead. It's the polite thing to do! Thank you, Mt. Everest staff & ownership for always being a staple for delicious Nepalese & Indian food in Baltimore. So grateful you made it through COVID-19. May you continue to...
