Visited for the first time with my husband yesterday evening, and will not be back for another visit. We were seated quickly, but the food and service were not what we expected.
Ordering: waiter seemed confused with our orders (hubby requested chicken teriyaki with fried rice instead of white; the waiter repeated it incorrectly, twice). I ordered the shrimp tempura entrée, but was served the sushi roll instead. The waiter took my choice and asked, “And?” as if he were surprised I was only ordering the single item. He did not bother to confirm between entrée or sushi version. Once he took our orders, he disappeared, only to come back and tell us there would be a $1.95 upcharge for fried versus white rice on my husband’s dinner. There was no mention of this during the actual order.
Food: Non-hibachi items do not seem to be made-to-order. The chicken teriyaki was very chewy (almost rubbery, and bland). It appeared to be already-cooked chicken with drizzles of sauce, but no other seasoning. The serving plate was hotter (temperature-wise) than the food itself. The vegetables served with it seemed overcooked (carrots and broccoli were almost colorless). The fried rice my husband got was extremely sticky, and also had no seasoning. He was not pleased with the meal and did not finish it. By contrast, the shrimp tempura (sushi version) was light and flaky, and the rolls were well made. They did not fall apart, were easy to eat, and had good flavor. Although it was not the dinner I actually wanted, I enjoyed the rolls. (However, the plate itself was served so quickly, I wondered if the ingredients were pre-made and sitting out for a while.)
Overall service: Our waiter was attentive when refilling drinks, but seemed otherwise occupied with larger groups elsewhere in the restaurant.
Although I had a pleasant experience with my own dinner, my husband and I will not be back. This restaurant may be more suited to hibachi-style meals, or as just a sushi-bar experience. We will...
Read moreI'm not sure what has happened, but this is not anywhere close to what I would have written a few years ago. I'm not sure the exact number, but I'm pretty sure we ordered more than a dozen rolls. The fish was just about non-existent in the rolls, and the side we ordered(to the point that people were dissecting the pieces to see if there was any at all). The spider roll seemed as if the soft shell crab was fried some time in the past, then frozen (maybe even freezer burned), then added (might not have been, but it was how it seemed). Instead of there being a fight for the most pieces of the spider roll (or any other roll for that matter) most was left over. There was an over abundance of cream cheese and/or avocado. We could have ordered avocado and cream cheese rolls, we wouldn't have known the difference. The rice was hard, not like undercooked, more like dried out, not really sticking together, and more than needed. A lot of money was wasted. I was suspicious when their prices didn't seem to have sky-rocketed, I should have listened that little voice in my head. We were really disappointed, enough that it won't happen again. I really wish, I had SOMETHING, ANYTHING, good to say ... Sigh... (I have come back with an edit note: I just read another fairly recent review. The reviewer thought the person who helped her might have been rude because the reviewer is black. I am white, just know, it had NOTHING to do with her being black. I had to laugh, seems they must treat EVERYONE the same,...
Read moreService was ok, they were friendly and the cook was very nice however…. The food was very very bad… I go to Kobe’s and amuras hibachi in lake Mary and wanted to try somewhere knew and since I was already in Oviedo decided to try this place out and let me just say I wish I had not. Again the service was fine no complaints their but the food was just disgusting. We ordered miso soup and that was very cold to the point it felt like it was made hours before and just left out in the open under no heat. I also ordered steak hibachi and the steak was ok but nothing crazy. Now the big killer which is a big part of hibachi was the rice and noodles….. the rice was such a small portion and on top of that it was gross.. it looked like they just took regular cheap white rice and mixed it with those vegetable bags you can buy from Publix lol. And the noodles was disgusting don’t know how else to explain the taste. Only thing I will say is they are much cheaper then any other hibachi so I guess if you want a cheap hibachi without paying as much as the others such as Kobe’s but want get a much lower quality of food then I guess this place is just for you but if you want something similar then don’t as it doesn’t even taste like hibachi. Another complaint is their is no A/C! I don’t know how you can be in Florida while cooking with fire and not...
