I don't write negative reviews lightly, but my hand is forced when it involves children.
My son attended last year and they spoke a big game about being developmentally appropriate and being empathetic and mindful of where children were in their development.
To be honest I saw some red flags from the beginning but I let them slide because they spoke a big game about child development. The first time I ever spoke to the owner she asked me if I wanted to keep my credit on file. Since I actually know about creating websites/programming and the security involved in that I said No. There are actually a lot of regulations for businesses when it comes to keeping their clients' information, but I didn't say anything and said I would pay monthly myself. The owner began to talk a lot about "having to chase clients down" and it was very negative and aggressive energy. A very "my money" energy and less service oriented.
Then at the end of the year when the children had their recital she sent out emails about it. I had a question about something she had said in it and she was quick to say, "that's in the email." She was very annoyed and again not customer experience oriented.
So both of these things already told me a lot. This year I placed my kid in a different class. When enrolling him I was told he would be in one room where it is open and parents can see. In fact, I specifically asked, "So I will be able to see?"
She said yes. Well that was a lie. The first time they go it's in a different room with absolutely no windows or access to the kids. The first day the teacher left the door open so after leaving him there for twenty minutes I went in to check in on his first day. Another parent was there.
The following class she lined them up and took them in and closed the door. This time I hear my kid crying outside "I want my mommy" and the teacher saying "your mom isn't here." It wasn't true and it doesn't take much to text so that a parent knows to come check in on their child.
I was a teacher and I always was very transparent with the parents. There was a window on my door and parents were allowed inside. My kid apparently the entire time was having difficulty and she didn't tell me at all she just kept trying to force him to stay inside. Why? He is not in jail.
He hasn't ever had this problem in any other class I have ever taken him to so my Spidey senses went up.
I went in the third class and sat to see how he was doing.
The following class she passive aggressively tells the kids to say bye to their parents and shuts the door. I didn't make a scene but I knew that was that.
Something is off. Something is weird. Why do you need to close the door? Why are parents not allowed in? Are you speaking to them differently than you would if parents were there? What are you hiding?
I emailed the owner about it as she wasn't accessible that day after class. I got back a very non customer friendly email about how I needed to speak to the teacher about it as they are allowed to manage things however they want.
🚩🚩🚩🚩 Once again another red flag of poor leadership skills. It is the director or owner that sets the tone for the whole establishment and she is the one that told me I would have access to my child.
I responded I would be taking a break. She responded with "you can take a break" and doubling down on her stance that this privacy thing is okay. There is duplicity here. At the end of recital I and several parents were asked to watch the kids. Now all of a sudden she is telling me parents cannot be in the room because they have not been background checked and no school allows parents in classrooms. That's a lie. They do. Parents can volunteer and when kids have problems they are still to this day encouraged to go to the classroom to problem solve with the teacher.
Gymnastics, karate, Etc allow parents to watch.
Something is wrong here. I told her I am not coming back. She has not responded or attempted to give me my money back for unrendered services. All of it is not looking good. What...
