I was intrigued by the reviews of this place and the fact that it was in a mall food court. Being the fan of any authentic Italian-serving restaurant I had to try it out!
The place has a nice, modern feel to it. The menu is fairly simple to follow: choose a size of your bowl, type of pasta shape, and sauce. Panini's and desserts are also available. The staff was very friendly, though the line was a bit of a cluster. They give you a card with you order on it so the cashier knows what you ordered, but it wasn't clear if you had to pay before or after your cup was given to you...and the weren't serving cups in the order they were ordered...so there wasn't a flow. I asked of the pasta was made on site, and they said yes, every day.
There were 7 different pasta shapes and 7 sauces to choose from. I had the Mama Rossa pasta in a medium cup and bolognese sauce. (Whenever I go somewhere new...I always have to try the basic items first...it's my litmus test I guess.)
I was fairly disappointed with the bolognese. It was very runny with giant chunks of tomato and onion...and two small pieces of meat. The bolognese I'm used to everywhere else is smooth and full of meat. I tasted the vodka and broccolini sauces...which I found tastier than mine.
I'll have to come back next time I'm there to see a movie at the Regal so I can try other things, but won't be going out of my way...
Read moreI could not sing the praises of this store higher if I tried. I can honestly say this very well might be my favorite food stop in Orlando at large, and not just because I'm obsessed with pasta. What a truly unique concept, pasta in little cups/bowls cooked speedily with the creativity of a deep fryer using only boiling water. Mini-pizzas, complimentary breadsticks, custom selection and the "build your own pasta" fixation, and even some cute Italian desserts for the road. Staff is always just as excited to serve as you are to eat, and will accommodate your unique request as best as they can (ie. sauce mixing, half-and-half on pasta types, etc.). Speedy service for the small kitchen of only maybe three people tops at one time, and quick cooking that gets to you right on time without a long wait--amazing, given the popularity this store often has on a busy day at the mall. With a punch-card rewards system leading to a free cup or free pizza, they've really got it all. I adore this place with all my heart and pray that nothing ever...
Read moreAbsolutely love CupPasta. We come to the mall sometimes just to eat here. The best pasta I've ever had because they make it fresh behind the counter. It has excellent bite and flavor. All of the sauces are also made fresh and in-house and blow away anything you can get at other fast casual or chain Italian joint. We especially love the Bosciolla and Brocollini sauces.
The pizzas are a newer addition and also tatsy. Think Blaze in that you can pick which sauces and toppings you want. They're about the size of a small pizza, so bigger than a personal pizza at say Pizza Hut.
That being said, there are two things I wish they'd improve: the breadsticks and kids offerings. The breadsticks are plain and really have no flavor. They may be good to soak up the sauce in the pasta, but on their own they're "meh." I would love for them to brush them with a garlic herb butter. Regarding the kids offerings, they do have a kids spaghetti, but I wish they'd also do a...
