This was probably one of the worst "Mexican" restaurants we have been in. We are a Mexican family, and have been living in the US for more than 10 years, and we have tried many Mexican restaurants. We understand its very difficult to get everything authentic since many of the ingredients are not accessible. However, even going in with low expectations, we were still very very disappointed. The restaurant was nearly empty, only one costumer dinning in. The front desk was empty, so we waited for a few minutes until someone made their way up there even though they had seen us when we came in. Since we had a baby, they offered us a high chair....which we had to ask for again, not a big deal, but the issues started to add up. There were not many authentic options, only the typical ones you find in any other Mexican restaurant in the US. We ordered a torta (type of sandwich), Mexican chilaquiles, and kids mac and cheese for the kids which came with an enchilada. To our disappointment, most of the food came from a can. The sauce from the chilaquiles, the refried beans, the enchilada, and the table salsa came from a bottle or can. The bread from the torta was old and dry, the chicken was dry, the rice was dry. The worst however was the mac and cheese, this was for our 3 year old and 1 year old. The cheese sauce came from a (spoiler alert!) can, but it was spicy. The kids right away spit it out and almost cried, which we did not realize until we tried it. Its not too hot for an adult, but definitely not for a kids menu. We told our server, and he took our plate and told us he would fix it. He came back with a new plate with just plain macaroni, no cheese, no sauce, no salt...just boiled pasta. We asked if they could put anything in it, the server came back with the same enchilada sauce....So no-one ate. The wife was very frustrated....so i suffered even more going home.
Cons As authentic as Taco Bell, but definitely not as good. (I actually enjoy Taco Bell) Service was not helpful, and unattentive.
Pros The food was served fast, price...

We came in to have a nice lunch and were seated around 2pm. the wait staff proceeded to disappear for an hour, reappearing at 3:01pm so that we would be forced to order off the dinner menu (which is 50% more expensive). The building was empty so the locals probably knew what we would soon find out. The food ranged from average to bad. The kids food was burned to the point of being uneatable and over the entire 2 ish hours we were there we had our drinks refilled one time. We are generally not complainers so we paid our bill (50$ more than expected) tipped well and went home very displeased.
This is where the nightmare really began. Soon after my family would face what we are now calling poopagedon! It started with a grumble in my stomach and i looked around at the rest of my family and i knew we were in trouble. One by one my family began violently throwing up, some in the toilet, others in the sink, another in the bathtub. We battled the hot lava vomit and explosive liquid, exploding out of both ends. I toiled with my own uncontrollable digestive battle as i fought to keep my family hydrated. When it was over the bathrooms in my home will never be the same again. My wife is so traumatized she wont even go into our master bathroom anymore. I am debating sending an invoice to casa real for damages to the plumbing in my home.
The second part may be an exaggeration, but food poisoning definitely took place.

Read moreThis place has the worst customer service we have ever experienced. My wife had stopped in to pick up chilaquiles at this location and was met with an employee with a terrible attitude and a manipulative demeanor. My wife has ordered chilaquiles for dinner on several occasions over the past six years and she had placed an order over the phone at 7:30 pm. By the time she had arrived at the Oxford location, an employee by name of Marci stated that they could not fulfill the order because it was on the lunch menu. My wife reiterated that they have filled the order before and she was even willing to pay extra. Marci said she would speak to the manager and to the chef and proceeded to walk around the restaurant speaking in Spanish to the other servers about her. My wife speaks Spanish and could hear the nasty things they were saying about her. My wife confronted her about the things she was saying and asked if she had spoken to the chef about the food. Marci then decided to be belligerent and insulting and stated that she said she never agreed to do that. For a simple request, the response from Marci seemed wholly unnecessary. Not only that, but we were willing to pay more for it. In the end, we decided to take our business elsewhere and we will not be returning. If this business continues to allow its employees to behave in such an unprofessional manner I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last time for several...
